Senior: York Suburban High School is quite a good school overall, although it does have its flaws. The school excels in academics, with students getting a very high-quality education that leaves them well-prepared for college. The teachers are fantastic, and the core classes are always reliably good. However, the school struggles with its non-academic aspects. The food is mediocre at best and will give you food poisoning at worst. Clubs are few and far between, and the music and art program have been really struggling in recent years. Additionally, school safety is far from where students would like it to be. However, the worst part about the school is its almost complete lack of any school spirit. Senior: Central York school district has been a massive part of my life for the last 13 years. Because of this school district, I met my 5 closest friends, I was able to play the sports that I love most (basketball and volleyball), I was able to get involved in clubs like the National Honors Society, and so much more! Although Covid-19 ruined half of my high school experience, I think the teachers and administration did a great job in trying to keep normalcy there. Senior: I've moved here in my junior year, and I was frankly daunted by the school size. However, each teacher connects with students --with few exceptions-- and truly tries to help everyone. The teachers and the education I received at this school was stellar compared to the many I have been at in the past. The reason why It's missing one star is that it's not perfect, some students fall through the cracks and some aren't disciplined enough. I know of some kids who can't do basic fractions, or writing, and they don't get the special attention they need. Junior: As a Junior in SWHS, I think that the school is pretty great! There are minor problems with bullying and questionable behavior, but there are some fantastic people that make you feel so welcome. I am involved in Mini-THON, the Drama Department and the Yearbook Committee, so I get to see a lot of diversity when it comes to the attendance and personalities of everyone else involved. South West can do some amazing things when we set our minds to it. I believe that our student body is very opinionated and stubborn and won't give up until we accomplish what we set out to do. Being involved in the many different organizations around school, I can attest that we have many students who are striving to express their creativity and showcase their amazing talents. Everyone is pretty nice, they accept you for who you are and bring you into a little at-school-family. We care for each other unconditionally and would stand up for each other in a heartbeat.... Senior: Had a great experience with CSY! The teachers are so truthfully in it for the ministry and for the students. Additionally, the environment is a much better improvement than most public schools. Education is high quality, and student life is a strength. The school’s mission is centered towards Jesus and His Word. Much is invested in athletics, and many students can and do participate in tryout-free teams. Junior: I would like to see better resources for college, and more guidance in picking a college. I think that the system of how things are done should be better. The teachers are amazing, at least the ones I’ve had, and are very supportive and understanding. They have helped me in school, but emotionally through my times of need and were very understanding. The sports are average, but spirit is very high. There are many opportunities for clubs in school and out of school. The lunch ladies are the sweetest women ever. Super sweet! Senior: West York is a smaller school located in south central pa. With only around 1000 kids in the high school Almost everyone knows each other and many people pick up multiple activities. We’ve had numerous sports teams win state, district And county competitions. The music program is very popular and the overall day to day West York is a blast! I've gotten the opportunity to be one of the first students to take a creators and influencers class and it opened my eyes to how cameras, lighting, and other key details work when it comes to better quality videos. Alum: My time at Dover Area High School were so far, some of the most important years of my life. By the time I graduated I had an abundance of education under my belt. One of the main reasons why Dover Area High School is so exceptional is the community that has been built over the years. The educators especially play a huge role in building a better community. Over the years I have seen the town of Dover come together to work together to keep our town a proud place to call home. Senior: York Academy is a great school, it opens up many different opportunities, especially considering it is an IB school. I am a part of the second graduating class, where I have been the second highest grade for the last 9 years, as we are still building our school. This has come with a lot of challenges, such as miscommunication, student frustrations, heavy work load, and simply a lack of answer, as we have never experienced some situations before. However this also comes with a lot of benefits, as I have learned to overcome a lot of challenges, both with school work and personal responsibilities. I have developed a deepened connection with the teachers and administration, which has allowed me to give so much more respect to the staff, as I wouldn't know all the things they do for us without these opportunities. Senior: I had a superb experience with Crispus Attucks Youthbuild Charter School. The teachers, case manager’s, and staff were very cooperative and easy to work with. They really took the time to understand their students and their needs. I learned a lot at Crispus Attucks. I like how they incorporate their school with construction. So you also get to learn a trade and work on houses while going to school to get your high school diploma so that’s a plus. One thing that Crispus Attucks could work on is diversity throughout the school. That’s a good way for students and staff to get to know each other’s background a little bit more and you can also express yourself and also education others. Alum: The school was definitely a smaller school, but the experience was impacting to my life. My graduating class was a graduating class of eight, and we all were like family. We were able to get more one-on-one time with our teachers to help us understand the material better of what we were learning, and the teachers poured into us and cared about us as individuals. The school would be perfect for those who like smaller classes, and to have more individual help from the teachers. Parent: Our kids in grades 7 and 9 now transferred from another Christian school and they love it at LCS. They picked up the PACE system quickly and are thriving quite well. It a great small school that's growing rapidly. We were having a lot of issues with bad kids in the previous school (and also bad teachers/staff), even though it was a fundamental Christian school, the kids in this school are much more friendly and welcoming and the teachers are all excellent!
