Junior: Deciding to apply for a scholarship and go to a boarding school in the US may be the best decision I have ever made in my life. This school only made my fantastic experience even better. Senior: My experience has been very good at Ottawa Hills High School. While not being the strongest academic student at the school there are so many opportunities for help. There are tutors available at all times of the school day and after school as well. Also the teachers are very helpful. I am also feeling very prepared and ready to go to college as well. The school itself along with the classes are very challenging to help prepare you for what is to come after high school. As a student who is also duel enrolled at a college and high school, I am so pleased to say that the college classes that I am taking are easier than my high school classes. The safety of our school is also very good. There is usually always a police in our school throughout the day, or parked outside the school around the hours of pick up and drop off. Senior: Toledo Early College High school was the best choice I could have made for my path to college. The staff and teachers at Toledo Early College were all extremely friendly and helpful, especially in my times of hardship. They all want to see their students exceed by assisting them in the best way possible, even in more personal situations such as mental health. I was one of these students, and I believed that I wouldn’t even make it to graduation due to my low self-esteem. However, it was because of their hard work and great support, that I proudly graduated with nearly 55 college credits, and straight A’s for my final semester as a high school senior! I now have all the core classes I need out of the way and can continue into college at a sophomore level! Senior: I am going into my third year at St. Ursula Academy, and I could not be more exited! Having come from a big school, where it is ever so easy to get lost in the crowd, St. Ursula's unique approach to teaching their endeavor to connect with those enrolled was unprecedented to say the least. Senior: I have attended TTAoE since I was in the 7th grade back in 2018, and I am now a Senior. I've seen the in's and out's of it, and I can say, for certainty, it's the best in Toledo, maybe even Ohio. It's extremely manufacturing, industrial, and engineering-based, giving you industry-standard certifications from places like OSHA, FANUC, and Autodesk Inventor. With small class sizes, a very close community, and plenty of industry connections. Senior: I have loved the school spirit and family-like atmosphere! I’ve had the opportunities to get involved in so many diverse clubs and activities that have shaped me into the person I am today, which is someone I’m proud of. I’ve been given access to many resources to help guide me through the most important decisions regarding college. The only reason I didn’t rate Central 5 stars is because of my own personal opinions regarding their decisions during the pandemic. I know that no one could predict the country going on lock down and schools being forced to go online, but I feel that the online learning could’ve been made less hectic and more productive. When we went back to in-person learning, I also feel like better choices could’ve been made more consistent to ensure the safety of the staff and students. Senior: One of the best parts about Southview High school are the in-school and out-of-school events. In my opinion the football games on Friday nights were the best out of everything. The crowd is always full of spirit and me being a cheerleader, there is never a dull moment on the sidelines. We also have a fundraiser every spring that is called dance for a chance which is where anyone who wants to participate raises a certain amount of money to be able to even be qualified but then the fun begins! Whoever participates is at the school for 12 hours playing games, dances, gets to eat food and be with all your friends. Onto some of the bad things.. There aren't necessarily too many bad things but there are some things that could be worked on, such as the welcome students give to the others who are new/ incoming freshman. Senior: I transferred to Toledo Christian second semester of my Sophomore year. I love the school very much for the short amount of time i have been there. I have made so many friends that think like me and help me in the rough times. I love all of the teachers and how much they care about their students. The worst part o my experience would be the strict dress code and the rule of no phones. I would change the enviornment of how the guys don't really interact with the girls. I would also change how some teachers teach about the bible. The Bible teachers at TC, some have no idea what it is that they are talking about. Others are very good at what they do. Senior: I am a Senior of 2021 at HCS. Overall, it is a great school and a great opportunity for any student. The only reasons that it is not five stars are sports, parent involvement, and the lack of clubs and activities. As far as sports go, it's not their fault at all. For guys, there is only soccer and basketball. But that is only because we do not have the facilities or enough people to do much else. Another problem is parent involvement. My mother has tried to volunteer for many things throughout the years. But she has been denied multiple times. And as far as clubs and activities, it goes back to sports. From football to swimming and National Honor Society to JROTC, there is so much the school offers. Even the elective courses are wide ranging. Many individuals would prefer schools teach life skills such as resume building, interviewing techniques, how to invest, etc. Well, SHS offers elective courses with those intended purposes.
