We have a child in all three divisions of the school right now—lower, middle, and upper—so have been afforded the beauty of seeing how students are encouraged to become THINKERS-to research topics, process their thoughts, ideas and opinions, and communicate and express those thoughts. All three of our children are very different, from a budding visual artist with an interest in philosophy and literature, a grade-conscientious young athlete who loves science and math, and bright, inquisitive child with dyslexia and ADHD. Senior: The attentive response of the teachers, along with administrative staff and teachers who listen make for productive school days. I’ve benefitted from hands on learning & the offsite experiences, such as learning opportunities in my journalism class, and service hour opportunities. AES values students as an integral part of their educational success. As juniors we are offered a trip to view multiple colleges across several states to gain knowledge and broaden our scope on what universities have to offer. School is fun! Parent: I graduated from Sacred Heart and now my daughters are attending as well. I am happy to say that the same traditions and values that were at the heart of this school, remain the same today. We came from several years at another private school in the area, and as much as I adore our previous school, there is nothing comparable to a Sacred Heart education! My daughter’s have both flourished at the Academy, just like I knew they would. The individualized attention these girls get is second to none. Plus the small class sizes allow for so much more freedom, from group work on the floor to classes outside because it’s a beautiful day! They truly enjoy going to school each & every day. Junior: Lafayette High School has a ton of extracurriculars, academic options such as AP and DE classes, and magnet academies. Whether a student would like to prep for college or go directly into a field, they can personalize their schedule to be in the TOPS(college) pathway or JUMPSTART(career) pathway and choose their school-day’s difficulty level themselves. While you may do absolutely nothing in PE, it’s nice to have an extra study hall. The first one being LHS’s “pride period” a 30 minute class where SPED students are with their IEP teachers, Juniors prep for the ACT, and other students are allowed to decompress, do homework, or study. The physical school itself is not doing well. The bathrooms stink, the auditorium floods, and the annual number of gas leaks is enough to make you ask why the school is still standing. However, the plans for a rebuild are online and all these problems should be fixed by the 2025-26 school year. It’s got it’s usual LPSS issues, but, honestly, I love LHS.... Read 490 reviews

Junior: I’ve enjoyed my time here at WCA! I’ve only got one more year, so I’m pretty excited to be a Senior. Though our school has some flaws, I wouldn’t trade it for anywhere else. It gives me a good Christian education and I’ve got good friends. The administration has been a bit corrupt as of lately, but we are fixing the majority of that so I might update this next school year if I can. And music and art isn’t much here. We don’t have a music teacher (we haven’t the past few years). We’ve got a chapel band, and a drumline. There’s art and theater if you’re into that. The academics is phenomenal. You will definitely be up for a challenge some days though, but it’s very rewarding. Sports is extremely important, it overshadows most other things. This isn’t to say academics isn’t emphasized. Senior: During my four years at North Vermilion High School, I enjoy everything this school had to offer. I stayed very involved from freshman year until senior year. Most of the clubs here at North Vermilion are super involved in the community and are always willing to take another step towards better involvement. The sports at our school are decent. We started our first-ever girl's soccer team last year and this year advanced to the second round of the playoffs. During my freshman year, our softball team won the Louisiana 3a State Championship, which was a huge accomplishment for our school considering we are such a small school. Some things that I would like to see change are getting more students involved. Alum: Throughout my years of high school, I didn't really exhibit much passion for our small town high school. Everyone knows everyone, and the teachers either graduated with your parents, taught your parents, or recognize you from older siblings. In my case, growing up in Erath where everyone knows your personal life, grew to be inconvenient to say in the least. Constant feeling of not-belonging because of course everyone knew that I was the child of an addict. I always hated the constant fear of being that weeks topic for student and faculty gossip... It is not until recently my small town changed my outlook. My little sister was recently involved in a tragic accident that claimed the life of her long-time best friend. The amount of support and compassion my family received from our community is nothing slight of amazing. Senior: Teurlings is a very close knit school. I know everyone in my grade and I know several underclassmen as well. The school tries its very best to create a school that excels in academics and extracurricular activities. Teachers are always ready to help out anyone that needs help and students are also ready to help each other out when needed. Truth be told though, I've been struggling with a lot this year, considering the fact that it is senior year, and I take harder classes, and I'm in a lot of extracurricular, but, I've been managing because my teachers are very easy to talk to and will give an extension to any assignment that needs. At Teurlings, we are treated like the young men and women we are and I feel prepped for college because of Teurling's impeccable academics and willing teachers. Senior: My experience with Highland Baptist has been a very good one for the most part. Since Highland is a smaller private school, you receive personal teaching tailored more towards your success and education. Classes tend to be more one on one, since they have less students. Also, the staff at Highland truly wants to see all students succeed. The teachers offer help and work to your advantage. The campus is nice and fairly new. Senior: What I liked about David Thibodaux was the fact that I felt safe and the bullying isn't too bad. Also it is very clean; the cleanest school I've ever been to actually. And there are different pathways and you can decide which one fits your future career best once you get into high school! It may seem intimidating at first because a lot of people think that only the smartest and nerdiest people are qualified to go there but while that is true, it is false at the same time. For one, you have to get on the waiting list to get in but if you are allowed in then you should feel special. But David Thibodaux gives opportunities to all different kinds of people and once you are in, I guarantee you will enjoy the experience way of learning and the clubs and sports that are there.... M.A.C.A is an extremely academically and talent based school which helps and persuades the students to express their talents and knowledge. My experiences there have been great.
