Senior: I recently moved from a public school to the Private school of Incarnate Word - Corpus Christi. It has been the best experience. I have grown in my academic knowledge by being required and motivated to go above and beyond to achieve in my academic learning. The staff at Incarnate Word have been supportive and welcoming towards me which has made the transition easier than I expected. The rigor of the academics has opened my eyes to the expectations of what college life might be like. With the expectations and rigor at the standard excellence. Senior: This school is amazing! I am senior at this school and the support system from the teachers, staff, and counselors is amazing. The environment from students is also wonderful, there always seems to be individuals that you can hang out with. Nobody is left out and everybody is included at the school. It also helps that students have the opportunity to get their associate's degree of liberal arts at Collegiate! One has the opportunity to also make connections with professors which is something that I did to get my letter of recommendation. Senior: In high school, you expect everybody to have their own cliques, friends, and groups. However, that's not the case for me. Even though I feel like an outsider most of the time, I also feel like I'm friends with everybody in the school. My days consist of going to a different group everyday. This way, I know what's going on with people and their lives (in a good way). The good thing about it all is that I'm "popular", and the bad part about it is I feel like an "outsider" because I miss certain things for being with other friends. Alum: I went to John Paul for all 4 years and it was an amazing experience. I made a lot of friends and the teachers really try to help you pass and understand what they are teaching. It’s a small school which really helps the kids in my opinion because the classes are smaller, meaning the teacher can actually get to know you better and help out a you out more because there’s not a whole lot of kids. The staff is great, the activities we do as a school is great, the teachers are pretty good, and the physical activities are pretty good. Senior: I have been attending Banquete since Kindergarten and my experience has been nothing less than excellent! Banquete is a small community, so class sizes are fairly small and you get that one-on-one time with your teachers. The teachers are all so great at their jobs as well. Tutoring is always available and they will work out an alternative schedule with you if you can't make after-school tutoring (ex. before school starts in the morning, during breakfast, during lunch, etc.). This school is like a family; everyone wants everyone to succeed. There are also many clubs and opportunities for success in an area you are passionate about. For instance, some organizations include Speech and Debate, TAFE, FFA, Band, Athletics, and etc. The faculty go to the ends of the earth to ensure that everyone is safe while on campus. Senior: I have been apart of the Tuloso-Midway community for as long as I can remember. My father is an employee at the school and my older siblings are alumni so I had the privilege of growing up with a bright, loving community. As I got to be a student at the school, I enjoy the beneficial experiences I have encountered. I got to learn from highly qualified teachers and coaches, be apart of a school that supported their students and athletes, and be more involved in the community by the school providing inclusive and supportive programs. The only trouble I have come across is the situation dealing with students that have ongoing mental health issues. As a student that suffers from these conditions, I feel as though I speak for many people when I state that mental health is an issue not talked enough in the school and I would love to see a change in that aspect of my school and even be apart of that change.... Senior: My expierience at bishop high school has been overall really good. I moved here in 7th grade and felt very welcomed by all of my peers and teachers. As every school though, Bishop has its ups and downs. As i have gone through high school i have had so many great teachers who make learning fun and enjoyable. Even my coaches have made me fall more in love with the sports that im in even though i might not be the best. Everyone is always very encouraging and never lets me look down on myself. There arent very many downs but one thing that could be considered a down is all the vaping that kids get away with. Although bishop trys its best to prevent these issues its still a problem. I would make a rule that smoke detectors and cameras should be placed in the classrooms and have drug dogs come through the school randomly at least once or twice a month. We are the only school in our district who have programs such as the Health & Science academy (which I am in), engineering, culinary arts, welding, and more. With the academy I’m in, we have a chance to earn certifications that allow us to work in the medical field right out of high school.
