Alum: I transferred to Riverstone in my junior year and the community welcomed me right in. Even before I entered the school year, I was connected with a "buddy" and I started to exchange emails with her to chat about classes and etc., which became a great way for me to learn about Riverstone. I was one of the very first residents at the dorm, which is a beautifully renovated complex on the River Street. Our dorm parents of the time, Margaret and Mary, were extremely caring. I really enjoyed the experience of living with kids from all over the world and learning about their cultures and experiences. The academics at Riverstone was definitely challenging and the faculty there were top-notched. The IB program was the hardest thing that I have ever done and it truly prepared me for college. When I started my freshman year at BU, classes felt relevantly easy, or that I would have the tools and capabilities to learn. Overall, I really couldn't thank Riverstone enough for everything!... Senior: Renaissance High is an excellent school for academically-motivated students. From the renowned International Baccalaureate program to the ISU AA program, students have the full support behind them of everybody from faculty to administration. There is not a better Idaho high school for college preparation! Renaissance also has great facilities - it is designed to reflect many aspects of a college with open ceilings and tables+chairs throughout. With that said, Renaissance is not without its flaws. Some are turned off by the lack of athletics at RHS, which is understandable. The school allows student athletes to compete with their boundary schools, but it's simply a different experience than the other athletes. The culture at RHS is very, very progressive and some may not be comfortable with that aspect either. Some students report feeling left out or even disliked if they do not fit in with this culture. Junior: I am currently a junior at MMACHS and attending this school has been one of the best decisions I have ever made! The staff and students are amazing people, and to me, they feel like my second family. Everything at MMACHS is amazing, whether it be the academics or the extracurricular activities. Furthermore, this school has provided me with so many opportunities that I wouldn’t have been able to experience if I was at a public Highschool. Alum: My years at Boise High were interesting to say the least. Sophomore year it was still considered peak covid and we had hyrbid schedules until the 4th quarter. Junior year was everyone together and finally no masks at 4th quarter. SENIOR YEAR WAS NORMAL which I was ecstatic about. The teachers were great and we all did the best we could with what we had. In my three years I have felt welcomed by every teacher and got along with everyone. Gossip spread fast given it’s highschool but it never really affected people too much. The dances were very fun and no one had a student section like ours despite us not being the greatest at sports. Regardless of that the school spirit was INSANE and it was just amazing to be around. One thing I would say I would like to see change is there should be more students involved in student council and not just have members of stuco win and do everything all the time. Senior: I have loved my time at Meridian Technical Charter High School. The small class sizes have made me more confident in myself and my leadership skills. I love being able to have a close relationship with my teachers so they can get to know me as a student. The students are always eager to learn and you get a sense of community within your grade and even people outside of your grade level. Even though it's not your typical high school experience, MTCHS helps you prepare for life after high school. In my experience, my required senior year internship was not only paid, but they also hired me on as an employee when I was finished with my 280 hours. Not many people can say that they were able to get a full time job right out of high school in the field that they want to go into, and I only got that because of the internship program at MTCHS.... Senior: I've been at Liberty Charter school since 4th grade, and I'll be graduating this week from Liberty. This school has such a great community. Everyday I'm surrounded with teachers, classmates, and friends that make going to school and learning an amazing experience. The rules are a lot stricter here, but they are still reasonable and manageable, and it's all worth it to be part of such a great environment. Parent: We are in our 10th year at Sage and have nothing but wonderful things to say about it. We started in kindergarten, and their IB program provides so much hands-on inquiry-based learning to make school fun for young learners. The teachers are all amazing. There is no school on Fridays, giving students a chance to recoup or catch up on schoolwork, and the teachers and staff have a full day each week to collaborate, prep, and learn. Their middle school and high school programs are rigorous but fair, and do a wonderful job preparing our kids for college, career, and just life in general! Freshman: Victory’s school mission states that “When there is low threat and content is highly challenging, accelerated learning takes place.” In this school they promote this to the extreme. Everything you learn is considered academically challenging, and you may think that you might not be able to learn it, but as you work hard and study like how they promote, you will rise to the standard they set for you. Through both sports and academics, Victory has taught me a very valuable lesson, that is the importance of working hard. In order to have success both in school and in life you need to live up to your potential. Our cross country coach would always tell us that if something doesn’t challenge you it will not change you. Senior: I enjoyed participating with Thomas Jefferson Charter School from Kindergarten through my senior year. I particularly enjoyed the staff's adaptability for each student by providing more difficult and particularly useful skills to use not only for school but for life. Senior: I moved to Bishop Kelly High School in the middle of junior year. It was quite a drastic change in my environment, because my previous high school was a small charter school with an IB curriculum, while Bishop Kelly High School is a Catholic high school and is bigger. The best parts of my experience was definitely the prevalence of faith in the school and how it helps connect others, such as the retreats that are offered and the daily prayer, and monthly masses. However, the worst part was most definitely the huge mental challenge of me switching schools. I had to endure making new friends in an unfamiliar environment whilst maintaining grades in a new curriculum. But, I feel that it was the right decision to move to Bishop Kelly High School, because it ultimately helped me grow as a person, with the bustling and connected community, and the success-oriented environment, and the adamant faith life.... Parent: With all the uncertainty in the world, I was hesitant to send my first born to school. He wanted to do in-person learning so I looked into all our options from public to private to charter schools. Many of my friends kids attend the Gem Meridian campus and love it so we chose the Gem Nampa location. I’m so glad we did! All the staff genuinely care about all the kids. The school keeps you up to date with all your children’s needs via a free app that’s easy to download to your phone. Staying in touch with your kids teacher and the staff couldn’t be easier! Senior: North Star is a very tight-knit community that was very scary to walk into halfway through my high school career. However, these students are welcoming to new people as they are used to having exchange students (which is a whole other grand experience in itself). Senior: I like the staff, and what the school values. The staff are always kinds, caring to students, and helpful. The teachers are amazing at what they do. The school values the sciences and the arts, has numerous sports and Cross fit programs, and helps connect students with Duel Credit Opportunities. Senior: I believe Centennial High School provides a great education. With most teachers being encouraging and always willing to help, all the while making learning interesting and enjoyable. Senior: Most of the teachers and staff there are amazing, and extremely helpful in academic and future preparation. The best part of my high school experience here has been being able to talk with the teachers and receive help, recommendations, and resources. Although the majority of my high school career has been good, there have have been instances when it hasn’t been good in the slightest. My school has a bullying problem, despite the problem being right in front of them, they often turn a blind eye to those inflicting and receiving the bullying. Hopefully in my last year at marsing high school, the staff and students will try to minimize bullying as much as possible. Sophomore: Within the school, there are many very strong and friendly communities which I really appreciate. I like that I can seem to find "my people" everywhere. It is very easy to find kind, helpful peers at Borah. Though, many of the teachers are unkind or unreasonable. I feel I can connect with teachers more easily at other schools. There is also a fair amount of bullying and unkind students, but if reported, the school is very helpful and supportive about it. I like how there are always a lot of activities happening, and I like how the school spirit is fairly strong. The students are very constructive with criticism and support each other. I really like how the schedule is set up, and It puts a good amount of breaks in between classes. I like that we can go off campus for lunch, and there are a few good places to get food when we want to leave during lunch. Senior: I moved to EHS my Freshman year. I was a very timid Freshman and still remember the uneasy feeling I had before I started my first day of Freshman year. From the first day of my Freshman year to now my teachers at Eagle High have been very welcoming and supportive. Alum: I absolutely loved my experience attending Idaho Fine Arts Academy! I attended my senior year of high school and from the first day both students and teachers helped me to feel completely included and welcomed. I felt the teachers truly cared about me and helping me to pursue my dreams. I was in the dance majors program and was able to achieve my childhood dream of choreographing and performing a dance solo at the end of the school year. This was all thanks to the amazing support I received from both my peers and teachers. I love the long lasting relationships I formed at the Academy. Senior: Gem State Adventist Academy’s best quality is the friendly, welcoming environment that is created by both the students and the teachers there. Every single one of the staff members is professional and cares for the well being of their students. As a student who arrived later than most, everyone was incredibly kind and welcoming.
