Parent: Baton Rouge High has been the soil where we planted our children and have watched them grow! We’ve watched them grow into the most amazing young people and we are so grateful for this school. It has allowed them to become the best versions of themselves! It has given them the tools to develop lifelong friendships, problem solve, develop confidence both while dealing with peers and teachers, etc. We have been so impressed with the AP program as well. These teachers have prepared our son for college, and they always go above and beyond. The choir program has been a amazing place, “home”, for both of our children. Their teacher has developed such a safe place / sense of community there for her students, and I am forever thankful for her. It’s hard to believe that our time at Baton Rouge Magnet High School is almost at an end, but I will be forever thankful for the opportunities that it has provided both of my children.... Parent: This will be our family's 10th year as a member of the Dunham family. We were looking for an academic environment that would allow our children to accelerate at the rate they were capable of. For our children that were naturally gifted in the classroom they have excelled. For our children that have some natural challenges (dyslexia) they have thrived. We love the offerings that athletics have provided. The school has a no-cut policy that has kept our children interested in sports even when they were inexperienced. They have all developed as individual athletes and their teams have experienced great success. Alum: I enjoyed my time at Zachary High School. I was involved in extra-curricular activities. I was in the Band of Blue for all 4 years of high school, and did Varsity cheerleading as well. Leadership skills were built from being a part of these programs. The worst part of being a student at Zachary High School during the time I went was doing hybrid schooling. During my freshman year, our world went through the Covid-19 pandemic that put a pause on everything that had to do with leaving my house. School, band, and cheer were all postponed and cause me to have some minor depression. By my junior year, the social distancing mandate was letting us little by little and I was able to connect with my peers and teammates again! Knowing that this isn’t Zachary High’s fault, I can’t complain about the school truly. Junior: Dutchtown High school has been a great place to help me prepare for college. I was able yo take the preACT my freshman and sophomore year in order to prepare for the ACT my junior year. One of the best parts of my experience was being able to join many different clubs that Dutchtown High has to offer. They have a club for almost any interest a student there has. The only bad thing about being at Dutchtown High is since it is such a big school, it’s hard to be apart of any sports due to many kids trying out. Senior: I have been at Uhigh for 13 years and I have made a lot of great friends and memories! I love my teachers, however, some of them are a little strict over the dress code. Besides my friends, I will miss my teachers the most! I made the best bonds with them and I feel like I can go to them for anything! They care about their students! Your work ethic has to be very strong and high to go here, but it’s worth it in the end because I will have 18 credits when I go to college! I am involved in 10 different fun, welcoming clubs and I am on the women’s soccer team! The Laboratory School provides a lot of opportunities for their students as well. Seniors have the option of getting out of school at 12:40, which is really helpful when there are college applications due. One thing I would acknowledge Uhigh to invest in would be a bigger school parking lot. Some people are unable to find parking when they get to school at a reasonable time. As a lacrosse player we have gone to state twice and we won state last year. Senior: I have been at Ascension Christian schools since I was in K4. Things I like about the school is that as do chapel every Friday and it is a good Christian environment. Another thing I like is other than public schools the teachers here can go their on past on their lesson and make sure every kid understands the lesson and they won’t let them fail or struggle on anything. Parent: My daughter had been attending this school since she was 2 years old. I've seen how far she had grown in knowledge and structure thanks to the teaching staff. The teachers are very sweet and patient when helping out with different subjects. Not to mention, the website is very resourceful given that it provides information for each grade level segment. Each time I had a question regarding extracurricular activities, events and enrollment, I got a quick response in the clear way possible. Alum: My experience at East Ascension High School was great. I loved this school. The environment was always friendly and there was so many different opportunities to be involved in something. I loved the pep rally’s, pond jump, skip day, all the fun stuff. The teachers were great and well educated as well. I would love for my future child to attend East Ascension High School. The food for lunch was delicious at most times. My favorite was the jambalaya and the nachos. I rate East Ascension a 10/10. Senior: I transferred to St. Micheal High School in 2020. This was one of the best decisions I have ever made. During my time at St. Michael, I played many sports and participated in clubs and the arts. The academics here are exceptional. Before transferring, I never knew what education I was missing out on. St. Micheal has one of the best academic programs and excellent teachers support who support it. During my time at St. Michael, I made many lifelong friends and memories. One thing that I would like to see changed is the arts programs. The arts programs have great potential but need more support from the school and money. But, overall, St. Michael is a wonderful school that I would highly recommend to anyone! The academics, staff, and students are outstanding and make every day at school delightful. Senior: I love my experience at Brusly High School. The teachers are amazing. They allow you to come to their classrooms before and after school if you need help with something. They are so family oriented and are always there when we need to talk. Our counselors have been there for us this year when we had two of our classmates involved in a tragic accident due to a high speed chase. They supported the parents as well. One of the students was a sophomore and one was a junior at the time, now they would have been junior and senior, which one of them would be graduating with me this year and it would be nice to receive a Mac book in her honor. Our school also has great sports and leadership. I serve on the track team and the color guard team in which I lettered in. Everything about Brusly has been great! I can say was the worst part is losing two of our classmates to a senseless accident. If I could change anything, it would be for Maggie and Caroline to be a part of Brusly High again!... Throughout my stay, I have been presented with countless opportunities that I do not believe I ever would have been given had I been to another school. The guidance and staff are very understanding when it comes to individual circumstances, and teachers are continually willing to help students whatever their goals may be. Alum: Central High isn't that bad of a school. It's good with academics and focuses hard on its football team. It probably focuses a bit too much on its team, however, because many other programs, such as the art and JROTC programs, are severely underfunded compared to it. There are issues related to certain people within the school, but as they all are students and CHS is a large public school, that can't be helped. The recent renovations of the school look nice and the new layout of classes makes much more sense than before. Freshmen are now given many more opportunities than before to advance their academic life, to where they can graduate early. Central does have a problem with paying and treating its teachers a good amount, and there has been some trouble regarding the changing rooms with welding, amongst other things. Alum: Everyone there is helpful! No day at Plaquemine High would you ever feel alone. All administration and staff are helpful. The have great clubs, sports, and academic programs. The even have after school tutoring and ACT prep for the students who are in need of extra help. At one point the school had fell a little off track on the learning and college readiness side, but once they improved their faculty staff and administration that immediately change and improved. Over all my 6 years of experience at Plaquemine High School was great, enjoyable, crazy at times but most of all helpful and fun. If I can go back and do it all over again I would. Parent: CP has been the best decision for our family. Our son has been there since pre-k 3 and moving into 6th grade next year. We could not have asked for a better educational experience for him. His teachers have genuinely loved him, while also teaching valuable life skills to go along with his great faith-based education. The school offers so much more than an education that we as parents simply did not have growing up. We have been a part of the CP family since the great floods of 2016 and know the struggles all of us faced during those times. It is amazing to see God’s work bringing this school from a scattered campus occupying 3 different churches to a brand new school campus with state of the art technology.
