Senior: Washburn rural high school puts a lot of attention on their sports activities and clubs. This leaves little room for those that don't enjoy such topics, making them a looked over minority. While the students are given a lot of grace, teachers get little to no support from the parents and top staff. Drug and vape use is very common, with lots of students skipping class with little punishment. However, the teachers at this school are simply wonderful and are very supportive of the students. Administration caters to the needs of those needing special education and the security team is a positive role model for those that come from disadvantageous backgrounds. Junior: At my high school, I have been able to explore many possible areas in which have helped me grow. It is a very good school; academic and sports-related activities are taken very seriously. From my academic standpoint, I average around a 4.0 GPA for all three years of high school that I have attended. I am currently a Junior and a strong contender to be my school's validictorian. The courses in which I take are very rigorous and challenges me to try my hardest. The sports that are presented at my school are also an immediate responsibility for everyone involved. I participate in cheerleading, and with the help of my coach, we have been able to participate in the yearly competition. Something that has never happened before, until my freshman year. Senior: Shawnee Heights High School gives students with disabilities like me the ability to interact with others and helps me when it comes to assignments. The school also provides me with the ability to have a very good counseling system that is able to help me through my problems, whether they are educational or personal. The people at the school are also very fun to interact with and do not divide themselves into groups like most schools, but instead everyone is very open with each other and is very welcoming to new students. The students and teachers make it feel like a community, as it seems everyone knows each other and, at the very least, tolerates each other. The school also provides a safe place for all groups, and the school makes an active effort to welcome everyone, no matter their identity. This includes me as well. Senior: My experience at Seaman High School has been nothing but amazing! The staff here are extremely knowledgeable and will help you out with anything. In addition, the students and friendly and encouraging. I met some of my best friends here, and will cherish so many memories. Speaking of, freshman year was a little scary, but with the newly renovated freshman hall it was an easy transition and allowed me to meet many in my own grade whom I did not attend middle school nor elementary school with. Alum: I loved every single minute that I spent at Heritage. The teachers were deeply invested into the students, and wanted them to succeed in their lives, not just getting them to pass their classes. The small class sizes were very nice, for I knew every single person in high school and I was able to develope very deep friendships with both my peers and teachers. The teachers were also willing to take time to meet with students, if the students wanted to talk about anything at all, from family troubles to questions about ethics and homework. The food from the cafeteria was the best! Almost everyday there was a dessert option, and there was always some sort of fruit or vegetable on the side. Chili and cinnamon roll days were my favorite. The classes that I took challenged me to apply myself and to put forth effort if I wanted to achieve the A. All in all there is plenty for any student to do, both in and out of the classroom.... Senior: I personally love Topeka High! I love most of the staff that works in the halls of Troy. I just disagree with a lot of what some of the staff believe when the appropriate time to use the bathroom. I love how diverse my school is. I love calling myself a Trojan and soon to be a Topeka High Alumni which is sad. The teachers here are personally in my biased opinion the best teachers in the world. Senior: Rossville has been my home for all of my life! I have absolutely nothing to complain about covid we never shut down we overcame objections and stayed in school all through it. With it being my senior year we are finally back to almost normal! Other: I loved going to school at Topeka West. I loved playing Basketball there and hanging out with my friends. My teachers were really cool and I feel that they were actually trying to set me up for success. There were some bad things that happened, like there were fights all the time. Senior: When going to Hope Street, you really gain a sense of security and comfort. They've helped me so much throughout my time there and I've had more one-on-one time with my teachers. The classrooms are small so you'd have less distractions as well. The staff has helped gain scholarships and other financial aids for seniors plenty of times.
