San Luis Obispo Classical Academy
Junior: Being a classical school, SLOCA has a strong Literature and History curriculum, as well as providing students the opportunity to learn Latin. Their teachers are excellent as well: it is clear that they love teaching and care about their students. In addition, the class sizes at SLOCA are smaller than in public schools, usually ranging from 16-24 students, because of this, you get to know your classmates well, forming a strong community. At the high school, many of our teachers have graduate degrees, and our curriculum consists of "Great Books" that traditionally would be read in college (for example, we just read Walt Whitman, Edgar Allen Poe, and Herman Melville this Semester). That being said, SLOCA struggles a bit in the technological side of things; they've started to incorporate more, but the opportunities are still lacking. All in all though, SLOCA has had a huge impact on who I am today, and is an excellent school for all grades.... Read 2 reviews
