Junior: This is my second year here at Leelanau and this school has been an integral part of my life. The Leelanau School is a wonderful place on a beautiful campus. Surrounded by Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore, there is no shortage of nature and beautiful views. A slow river meanders through the campus adding to the natural splendor. The teachers are absolutely AMAZING and are the foundation of the school’s values and success. Middle School Student: It’s a pretty good school. The food is absolutely mid. Curriculum is good. Excellent theater and music program, as well as volleyball; soccer; and Basketball. Alum: The student body and community of parents are wonderful. The teachers are caring and supportive of individual students. The curriculum is focused on the development of my whole child, their character and academic success. Its alumni go on to be successful in every profession as adults with integrity and compassion for others. Lawyers, doctors, veterinarians, artists, teachers, entrepreneurs, and engineers, I know one of each of these from friends that graduated from SM. Senior: I have attended Glen Lake Community Schools since I was 5 years old. The atmosphere of the school is very welcoming and very community like. It is a tight-knit group of staff and students who all care for each other in a professional yet compassionate way. The connections and bonds that teachers create with students are life-altering and memorable. As for the content that is offered; while Glen Lake is a small school lots of programs are offered and are available for students to participate in. Education wise, I feel I have learned a lot throughout my years of schooling. Glen Lake Community Schools may be small but overall, the school itself is the perfect environment for a student to gain knowledge and create long-lasting connections with many people.... Junior: Northport Public School does everything it can for the sake of each and every student on it's campus. Everyone is known by name and is given the opportunity to participate. There are no racial or financial barriers. No one is a number. Our school focuses on safety, respect, and responsibility. It's faculty struggles to provide us with any and every opportunity that it can. So much so, we tend to take it for granted. Sadly, our greatest downfall is location. Although providing for the tight-knit community that we experience, it is a tourist destination and holds a high population of retirees. Our greatest struggle is student population; the cause of all the inadequacies in our local reputation and in my ratings below. It makes me sad. Junior: I love my experience here at Suttons Bay! The teachers are amazing and extremely helpful! The student body is diverse and welcoming. My exchange student made a group of friends fast and they have been so kind to her, I’m sure she is loving it. I was also able to find my group that I stick with quickly and they are amazing. This school provides a solid education for its small size and low budget. The sports programs are also really fun and supportive. Although there is definitely some areas to improve there, such as even budgeting but I know that’s difficult so considering that, they still do pretty good. The school itself is kept nice and clean which is good. I can’t speak for the food since I bring my own lunch, but the reviews from my friends have been pretty good. I have absolutely no concerns over the safety of me and my peers. This school is amazing for the area, I would definitely recommend going here!... Read 20 reviews
