Junior: I enjoyed some of the aspects of the school, however I wish the students were nicer. It was hard to get along with many of the students. I enjoyed having a dorm for the first time, but it wasn’t anything to call home about. I was lucky enough to have my own dorm, because they weren’t the biggest. I’ve really enjoyed my humanities class this year. My teacher (Phineas) is one of the best teachers if not the best teacher I’ve ever had. Some of the teachers however, weren’t so nice. Senior: East Richland Christian School is a wonderful and amazing school for all ages. While the food isn’t great, the chairs are a little squeaky, and the floors a little dirty, the overall culture and teacher experience makes up for all of that. When you go to school rarely do teachers care about your personal lives. But, at ERCS teachers want to come along side of you in meetings, small groups, and positive interactions. This creates a very warm environment among the students and teachers. However, problems still arise. Alum: Good education for the area, but lacking nationally. Athletics weighted heavily toward a few select sports, whereas some (such as a non-existent soccer program) are blatantly ignored. Arts and language classes are heavily underfunded and feature high turnover. Few college preparatory courses - the options are online courses, "college prep" courses that count for little beyond graduation, and dual-enrollment in a local university wherein it is the student's responsibility to organize transportation to and from the campus half an hour away. Senior: Union Local has an amazing atmosphere. Everyone is very friendly and no one is left out. Even though the atmosphere is great the teaching is just average or below. Some teachers are very good and the test scores show it but others just are there to get paid. The sports are very involved with the community and are very proud of the players. The administration is very involved with the students but not always do what is best. The school is a very safe place to be physically and emotionally. Parent: I have been going to Speiro Academy since I was in Kindergarten and I am so proudly to report that I am still attending Speiro Academy and intend on graduating from here. Speiro Academy has taught many things about leadership, team work, how to prepare myself for college and marriage. Speiro Academy is not a sports high school but we are more of a fine arts and academics school.
