Senior: Farmington High School is a remarkably diverse establishment with some academic students and significant staff. Their band program is quite lovely, having been 'superior' in their musical performance assessments and going to State multiple times. Their theater program is also quite successful as they are quite dedicated to their new show 'The Wizard of Oz.' The teaching staff is quite nice as well, especially the counselors. Whenever I need help or guidance, they have always been there every part of the way. Alum: St. Pius X prepared me well, not only for a Ivy League degree, but for life. On top of the academic preparation, a wide breadth of cocurricular classes allowed for exploration into different passions- some of which I still hold, such as film photography and weight lifting. Athletically, the coaches and teammates I was blessed to compete with all touched my heart, many of whom I still keep in touch with. Aside from the great teachers, courses offered, and stellar athletic teams, the diversity of the students and emphasis on living out the Catholic faith taught me to always love your neighbor. I would argue that this aspect is what makes St. Pius X so special. I would always recommend St. Pius for students and parents looking to have a well rounded, wholistic high school experience. Senior: I like how inclusive St. Michael's is. Everyone knows everyone, and everybody is polite. The school offers many different opportunities for several interests. The faculty and staff want each student to succeed. I'll never forget my first year here. All the staff and all of my classmates were so friendly. They made sure I was comfortable with my classes and they taught me the ways of St. Michael's. It is not a regular high school. We go on retreats, we open our hearts to each other, and we profess our faith. St. Michael's instills in each student a set of five core values that we use not only in our academics, but in our daily life. St. Mikes is different and it's perfect that way. Parent: I remember once I participated in a spelling bee. It was a very exciting experience because I have always liked language and literature. I prepared very hard for the contest and although I didn't win, I learned a lot about the language and the importance of spell checking. As for why I like school, I think it's because I've always enjoyed learning new things and challenging myself. School has provided me with many opportunities to do so and I have been lucky to have teachers and professors who have inspired and motivated me. I have also made wonderful friends at school and have many happy memories of my years there. As far as one change I would like to see in the school, I think it would be great if there were more opportunities for students to learn on an individualized and personalized basis. Senior: I had an amazing experience this year as a senior at Hobbs High School! My school just opened a new technical school called C-Tech, that is part of the high school. I took culinary classes this year at the tech school for college credit and learned how to bake and cook. It has two restaurant style kitchens with all of the necessities. My class got to help with a hospital gala this year and made all of the desserts for the dinner. My favorite dessert I learned to make was a Baked Alaska with sponge cake and chocolate chip ice cream. Senior: My experience at Piedra Vista High School has been great throughout my current and previous years attending. Most of my teachers have efficiently prepared me for the future through their extensive knowledge on the subjects they teach. They are always willing to answer my questions and they consistently keep their students updated on important deadlines and events associated with the school. The campus is always kept very clean with the exception of some particular stairwells that sometimes contain leftover food from the previous lunch time. My only complaint about this school regards its safety. The fence surrounding the school contains multiple gates that lock from the outside when closed, however, it is fairly easy to unlock these gates, meaning that any individual that poses a threat could easily gain access to the school building's unlocked doors. Senior: Mayfield is a great school to go to, teachers actually talk to kids and get to know how they learn and help them in the way they learn rather than just teaching and telling. I’m sad to say that I’m a senior and only have one year left there, I would love to stay longer cuz it’s so great, but I’m excited to move on in my life and grow into an adult. Mayfield has prepared me well for adulthood and to be ready for college. Majority of the teachers are really nice and talk to you like you’re a human rather than just a child. Mayfield offers tons of extra curricular activities and electives which even through the pandemic were super fun and interesting. The pandemic stunned all of us and Mayfield faculty handled it well. We zoomed everyday and I actually enjoyed staying at home and doing school over zoom. Senior: I really enjoyed the baseball program. I played for the Tigers baseball high school team since I was in 8th grade. The coaches were great! I also had some really great teachers that taught me alot and prepared me for the future. This school has alot of really good programs and teachers that really want to see you succeed in life. The student/teacher ratios are highly rated which I feel helps so much it gives us the time to actually get the help and education that each individual needs. Los Lunas has an A- grade in diversity which is really awesome. I feel the administration really works together and gets us the most accurate information and do their best to keep us safe. Covid effected us all, and it had its challenges but my school had great teachers,staff and students who all came together and we adjusted and still was able to get the education we needed to continue our process to succeed. Senior: I loved my four years at La Cueva because the school spirit and community was amazing. They take a lot of pride in their academic and athletic accomplishments. They have great dances, pep rally's, band performances, clubs, teachers, and students. The security guards are super sweet and always make sure students are having a great day.La Cueva also has a great tutoring program for students that need help with subjects they are struggling with.The janitors do a terrific job keeping our school clean and beautiful. Parent: As the mother of a recent graduate, I can say that there is no way to put a price tag on everything this school has provided for my son. I would pay for this education again if I had to; it has been just that valuable to him! The learning environment "doesn't feel like school" (his words) because it is so engaging, interesting, and fun!
