Senior: A great place to thrive. Small classes, a great family atmosphere. I have made great friends and there a ton of resources. I am an athlete and love the sports program. I love how much time the parents put into the school and how theys support their students. All grades support each other- it is very inclusive and a real family feel. I felt comfortable from the first day and know that I will really miss the tight knit community that this school offers. I feel I have gotten a great education while making friendships that will last a lifetime. The coaches and teachers are great. I feel that for academia the school still has a very conservative feel to it. The only thing that I would critique negatively would be the school counselors. I never really "needed" them but in terms of getting ready to apply for colleges etc they didn't guide us very well. The school counselors don't seem to spend a lot of time with their students. Alum: I loved my experience at Marian. Even though it was all-girls, which can be scary to some high schoolers, I really felt like I could be myself and dive into my education confidently. The social events like Field Day, Surprise Day, Walk-a-Thon, gave girls a chance to get together and have a lot of fun. As a former student-athlete for all four years of high school, I can say the athletics programs are especially competitive but always tight-knit. The top-tier academics challenge every student to see their potential and get engaged with their classes to not just understand but immerse themselves in their studies. Overall, Marian is a great place, arguably the best place, to discover opportunities in every aspect of education. Alum: The academics and college readiness at Bellevue West are outstanding. You can take advantage of many opportunities through clubs or partnerships with colleges for credit. I was given the opportunity to work on my CNA with Metropolitan Community College, gaining high school and college credits all at once. Sophomore: Southwest is all around an amazing school. There are a wide variety of options for students to earn the credit required for graduation. Because of this, there's something for everyone there. There's an abundance of incredible extracurriculars and their sports are all amazing. The teachers promote communication and independence, and the block scheduling provides students with the opportunity to graduate their junior year. Only having four classes a day really simplifies your schedule and allows you to be more focused and engaged in class with a clearer mind. Senior: I really really enjoyed Wahoo High School. My experience was just a tad different coming from a very small school with 15 people to here at Wahoo, 88. I found myself involved in many clubs such as FBLA and FCA. I also am on the basketball team here at Wahoo and we have been very successful. If there's one thing Bishop Neumann has proven, it's that it has the ability to attract a diverse population of athletes, nerds, and inspired individuals. Academically Bishop Neumann scores an average of 3 points higher on the ACT compared to their cross-town rival who is over double their size. Athletically, Neumann is quite literally built different, multiple state titles in track and basketball have been taken, even with the school size difference. Junior: Pius X High School has been an excellent school for me to grow, both academically and in my faith. I am able to pick from a wide variety of interesting and advanced classes that challenge me while still managing to have fun. The multiple AP and dual credit courses offered ensure that I can get a jump on preparing for college. At Pius, I am able to grow in my Catholic faith through weekly Mass and confessions, adoration, and retreats. In addition, each year students are required to take a Theology class to help them develop a deeper understanding of their faith. Over the course of four years, The Bible, Church History, Catholic Moral Theology, and Apologetics are covered, which gives students a solid ground for their faith. The small sized school is great for someone who wants to feel special and feel like they belong to a big family full of people who know each other. Senior: At Scotus, I really enjoyed how small the class sizes were. The biggest class I had had twenty students and the smallest class had seven students. I enjoyed being able to go on retreats every year and being able to grow closer with my classmates. I especially liked having the opportunity to spread my faith throughout my middle and high school career because it helped me learn and grow closer to God. One thing I would like to change is not having the opportunity to have honors classes. We had the opportunity to have dual credit classes but not honors. Senior: Overall I enjoyed my years here at South High, we have many good teachers who actually try to connect and engage with their students. We also have a lot of different after school clubs and sports! If I could change once thing about my school it would probably be a better bathroom system. To explain, every day all the bathrooms are locked except one to keep students from skipping or wandering around in the halls. The issue is they chose what bathrooms to keep open at random so really they aren’t helping the “wandering student” problem. Senior: My experience at Elkhorn High was very memorable. Because of it’s challenging and rigorous curriculum, it brought out some of my best qualities and helped me develop a work ethic that will set me up for success throughout college and the rest of my life. I learned so much at Elkhorn and I feel very prepared for college! However, there are times where the amount of work that teachers assign us can be a little overwhelming, and I think students could have a slightly lighter workload while achieving the same amount of preparation for college. I moved to Elkhorn my sophomore year, and making friends was hard for me initially. Senior: My experience at Crete High School has been very positive to me. I love so many things about this school, including the teaching, my friends which make school way better, and the extracurricular activities. Crete does an amazing job of making everyone feel included, which is so important in teen age lives. This year has been a challenge for everyone and viewing the way Crete deals with these challenges makes me happy. The only think I could say Crete could improve on is reaching out to parents more. Senior: My favorite part about Millard South is the culture. At Millard South it is encouraged to be apart of as many things as possible.
