Senior: Aquinas has been my home for the past four years and I would not trade those years for anything. This school has given me a family that I will be a part of for the rest of my life. It has stellar academics and a very faith-filled community. There are many clubs, groups, and teams to be a part of. Everyone at this school is somehow involved in extracurricular activities. School spirit at STA is always in the air. From the pep assemblies to the football games, every student cheers on the saints. The teachers are some of the kindest, most supportive people I have ever met. I have not encountered a single teacher that I did not like or did not enjoy in their class. Senior: Bishop Carroll is an excellent highschool for anyone to attend. We have many clubs and activities for all types of people including game club, anime club, many different language clubs, art club, and more. Our sports have been very high standing throughout the history of Bishop Carroll. Not only are our sports amazing, but so are our music and arts. Our Choir always goes to contest and achieves very high scores at state. Our musicals also do very well. We have even had a lead musical role win an award as best lead role to win a full ride scholarship. Due to covid 19, it was more difficult to have many activities, but we still stood strong. Alum: The best part about Miege is the overall attitude from the teachers and students. Everyone is welcome at Miege and the sense of community surrounds it is truly unmatched. I loved the variety of ways in which people can get involved, my personal favorite being Herd Counsel. Whether it be on the field, behind a controller, or cheering in the stands, the ahead system allows for every single student at miege to feel at home. Inclusiveness is extremely important during the high school years. A lot of people graduate high s cj ooo and say they hated it, but after graduating miege, I can’t wait for my next trip back. This is also the morale of most students who graduate. Senior: Derby is a wonderful school with its ups and downs, I would prefer if Derby would change their policies or get more involved with students so nothing terrible can happen again (for example, the grenade threat!). If they could change their attitudes about specific courses and lend them some more money they could be better than what they are now! For example, they do not give the art departments enough money to buy or fix anything that they need compared to any sports team/department. If they took some money from the sports team and gave some to the art departments they would be so much better! Senior: The engineering electives offered at my school were really cool. I had the opportunity to build boats, airplanes, and rockets that were all launched. The worst part of high school was online learning during Covid. We didn't really learn anything and it made it harder the following year because we didn't have a good base knowledge for the next class in science or math. Senior: My experience at a student at McPherson high school could not have gone better. The teachers were there for me, they were there for every student (at least from my knowledge they have been) Our counselors want the best for us and will constantly check up on us. The school promotes good relationships with all students, they encourage the students to get involved with the community and get to know the people in it. There are clubs for all sorts of personalities, and classes for everyone as well. The drama department completes plays/musicals every year that always go amazingly. The shop and auto department are always being improved. Our athletics go above and beyond with having 53 state titles. Senior: Overall, the school is a great place to go to every day. I never have to worry about being bullied or the threat of being bullied. Conflicts outside of school occur rarely and it has its own policemen that monitor the halls daily. The inside of the school is well maintained in terms of cleanliness, structural quality, and the safety of school equipment. Food is always available for breakfast and lunch; getting a basic lunch now doesn't cost any money! Breakfast and lunch always has a variety of food to choose from. The staff is always friendly and ready to teach. Two things I would improve on are the college readiness classes and the food quality. There are a few classes and seminars that teach about getting ready for college (such as AVID), but more college readiness classes would be extremely beneficial. Senior: I had an excellent experience at Cheney High School. I moved to Cheney from a bigger city in Kansas and the school was nothing but welcoming. The teachers made an effort to make sure all of their students were given the opportunity to succeed. Senior: I have had a great experience at Olpe High School. The teachers are willing to work with you and will not only teach you school things they teach you life lessons. The community is also fantastic. Many people in the community will back you up and support you in anything that you do. The clubs and activities are also good. There are many ways for kids to get involved. There are a band, sports and other clubs for all types of students. The only thing I would change about the school would be the support of women sports. Right now the women sports teams are very successful. While you do get support, we have not been supported as much as the boys' teams. Senior: The school is smaller, but accepting of the LGBTQ+ community. The counselors also help as much as they can with the students who aren't academically doing well. The teachers also have been open with checking in on students and their grades if they are slipping. Not only is the food consistent with the ideal nutritions to keep all of the students up for the day, we also have a miniature "convenience shop" (called The Pit Stop) where all students can purchase diet sodas, chips, and even smoothies or popcorn chicken. I personally favor the library though. It is a common space for the seniors, like me, who are taking online independent studies or are looking for a quiet place to study for tests and exams.... Senior: I really like MHS. All the teachers are caring and want you to do well. They will help you with any questions you have and even spend time one on one over materials that you may not fully understand. There are also a lot of clubs and extracurricular activities to participate in. There is bound to be something you will enjoy. Besides the basic required classes, there are also other elective classes you can choose from such as music, arts, woodworking, sewing, cooking, and many more. Senior: Coming to Maranatha from a public school made a huge difference in my education. I am so glad I have had the privilege of learning from a Christian education. Most of the teachers and staff are kind and helpful and are always open to answering your questions. Some people in leadership need to be replaced and currently, Maranatha is in the process of doing that. Sports programs can definitely become better, but being on a team with the MCA community is great. I wish Maranatha had a counselor so the students could come talk to him/her about personal problems instead of burying the teachers with their problems. Junior: At my high school, I have been able to explore many possible areas in which have helped me grow. It is a very good school; academic and sports-related activities are taken very seriously. From my academic standpoint, I average around a 4.0 GPA for all three years of high school that I have attended. I am currently a Junior and a strong contender to be my school's validictorian. The courses in which I take are very rigorous and challenges me to try my hardest. The sports that are presented at my school are also an immediate responsibility for everyone involved. Alum: My experience at SMNW was overall a positive experience. I am happy and grateful to say that I went to a very good high school with a good education system and plentiful resources. The majority of my teachers were amazing and passionate instructors! Classes sizes were a good size, not too packed but also not too small. Our high school building was a good size as well, maybe not the most modern or aesthetic looking school but nevertheless it just your typical looking HS. I will say I would have wished for my natural lighting! As for the school culture I would say that my high school has alot of school spirit. People were relatively friendly. I would say our HS had one of the best diversity of people out of the other nearby high schools. I felt like it was easy to fit in. Freshman: The amazing atmosphere paired with teachers that actually want to be here is an unbeatable combo. The school spirt during school and out of school at games is legendary. I came in as a transfer for the medical professions academy and I do not regret it. It is a super hard, but fun academy that prepares students interested in being a medical professional for the future very well. College level class. Medical terminology quizzes weekly. The other academys are also amazing here. Sports medicine academy helps people with a speedy recovery after a sport injury. They have student trainers at the games. All academys have amazing exposure to things before college. Other academys include animal health, geoscience, and distinguished scholars. Students in academys are encouraged to get an endorsement based off course rigor, gpa, volunteer hours. Many great fieldtrips, and senior year in every academy, students get internships.
