There are many clubs for students with a wide variety of interests to enjoy. As with most high schools there are good and bad teachers but in my experiences the vast majority of my teachers have been fantastic!

    Senior: Very homogeneous but it's not impossible to be yourself. Ridiculously good at sports- there are no places for kids who just want to play a sport for fun or haven't been in the junior leagues since at least elementary school. Everyone goes to college, so you have plenty of people involved in the process and can lean on your friends. No swimming pool! (This upset the community during it's construction in 2005 and led to accusations of YMCA conspiracies.) The teachers are great but not all of them are easy to talk to after hours.

    Junior: Great school. The teachers challenge students and push them to improve, and the school does a lot to give students the confidence to speak out and be heard. The college counseling office is fantastic. They do a great job of easing students through the college process and finding a college that is a good fit for the student. On top of that, as Watkinson is a small school, the school community is very tight-knit. As a junior, I know every junior, senior, and sophomore by name, which is common at Watkinson.

    Junior: Xavier is by far the greatest choice I have ever made in my life. Before stepping foot on campus, I didn't know what to expect, especially considering the public schooling I had gone to prior. All of my doubts changed when I was greeted with much respect. I immediately felt a part of the community; a feeling I had never felt in my life before. My public schooling system never gave me the opportunity to be treated in such a way. I feel as though the community at Xavier is something that cannot be found anywhere else, as is proven by the alumni that are constantly visiting the school, whether it be at homecoming or just casually. They talk about the memories they had at Xavier, what they used to do all the time, and especially about the lifelong bond the school has created with all of its students. I am very proud to be a Falcon. If you want your child to not only have a great education, but also be a part of the lifelong bond, Xavier is definitely the right choice. Let's go X!

    Senior: Despite the recent negative news regarding this school, I have a few things to say to any parent thinking of sending their child here or student who hopes of going here. First and foremost, the actions displayed at the game do not, in any way, reflect the beliefs of our student body. We are all upstanding young men, and the school spirit here is unmatched by any high school in the country and most colleges out there. The academics are great, the teachers are great, and the athletics are great; it is unfortunate that the actions of a few graduating seniors tainted our school in this way.

    Senior: My experience at Daniel Hand has been overall a good time. There is a wide variety of class options and I truly believe that anyone can find something they like here. There is also a range of difficulty levels for classes. It's very accommodating for students who struggle academically as well as those who want a rigorous course load. Not only does it offer many options for classes, but Hand also has numerous clubs that can fit anyone's interests. Whether someone has an artistic or musical talent, wants to volunteer in the community, or even just wants to make some friends in a social club, there is a club for everyone! There are lots of music groups, art clubs, and even a video game club. But if that's not enough, you can join one of the many sports teams. At Hand, students take pride in athletics and many times are successful in winning regional or even state level competitions. Clearly, Daniel Hand has something for everyone and I am glad to have spent my high school years there.

    Senior: A great academic environment that also fosters great opportunities for the arts. Most of the faculty are professional and enthusiastic about teaching. The student body varies with each class but a large portion of it is privileged rich kids. Fortunately the environment is not too cliquey and has its perks such as the awesome lunch system and classrooms. The arts department is amazing and the tech/engineering department is good for a small school. The administration is a little strict when it comes to random safety making the atmosphere sometimes strained. But the reason I gave it 4 stars is because the school prepares students to be college ready, even if we don't do anything. Just by attending this school I raised my chances of being accepted by certain colleges that I wouldn't normally have been accepted to.

I was able to take advantage of advanced placement courses that helped enhance my learning of those subjects but also helped in creating effective studying strategies and developing critical thinking that will be applicable after high school. I participated in the music program playing an instrument for four years, in addition to also participating in sports teams. The school offered a variety of clubs and extracurriculars to fit various students' interests, cultures, or help us participate in the community outside of our high school.

    Senior: I loved that all of the teachers were always willing to stay after school and help me with whatever I needed. I also enjoy the fact that it is so easy to get involved and make friends because everyone is so welcoming. I wish that Conard had better food because I have had to bring lunch every day since Freshman year in order to eat! I hope that Conard stays exactly the way it is, but I hope that freshman become more involved so that the school can keep gaining a better reputation.

    Senior: Overall the school was a quality experience for me. My classmates were kind and devoted to studying, while many of the teachers I had were very enthusiastic about helping students learn. The art department in particular encouraged me to follow my dreams of becoming a concept designer. The curriculum of classes are typically thorough and up to date, supplemented by passionate teachers who more often than not will stay after to help you learn. The school body tends to conflate good grades with good self worth, so the drive to succeed is incredibly high. However, the school is in a majority white neighborhood. There are diversity initiatives such as the ABC House to encourage a more colorful student population, but the majority demographic in the district is white.

    Junior: We have an excellent academic department. All the teachers prepare the students for college and beyond. I can truly say I am confident in getting in to a college I want. I like how we have diverse strengths- we are good at sports, and academics, theater, art, science, technology and more. I like how we offer a multitude of classes and electives in addition to core curriculum. In addition to this St. Joes is a family. I love our community environment it really makes the experience better. My overall experience at St. Joes is amazing!

    Alum: The school itself gets me very prepared for real life education. Going to college, I found myself in classes reviewing stuff everyone had to go over junior year that some students in college couldn't get their heads around. I personally had issues with some of the teachers, some of them just talking about how they themselves are better than the students and showing no respect to anyone in the school, and some that were just very harsh in the classroom. But overall I think it prepared me for all the kinds of people I'd end up dealing with in college and one day when I'm in the workforce.

    Senior: Overall, I've had a pretty good experience here at Wethersfield High School. Throughout all my years here, I've met many great people, made new friends, met a few awesome teachers, and most importantly, I've learned so much. WHS is a good high school for people who are into sports, because our school is heavily involved in sports and our teams usually perform very well. Wethersfield High School is also great in terms of diversity. There are many types of students that attend, from white, black, hispanic, asian, and a whole variety of ethnicities. I'd say WHS is a perfect school for any time of student, and it's been a fun journey.

    Senior: The academics at Amity are very rigorous, and I've heard from those who have graduated from Amity and are already in college that they felt Amity prepared them well for the college workload. However, particularly in the higher-level classes, there can be a sense of competition among students to do better than each other. There is a warped perception of what failing is, as many students find a B unacceptable for them.
    Additionally, although there are lots of extracurricular clubs at Amity, it can be difficult getting involved later on in your high school career. It is imperative that freshmen establish themselves right off the bat at Amity or else it can be difficult to seize opportunities later on.

    Senior: I love the brotherhood shown at Notre Dame, everyone is very close and no one is excluded. The teachers and the school work may be hard, but if you go to th teachers, they will do everything and anything they can to help better you for the next level. If anything needs to change it is the food. Personally, I think one of the strongest aspects of Notre Dame is the English program. The English program is very tough, but the teachers are so good at explaining and influencing you to think outside of the box. I have had papers where i have been completely lost, but after asking questions and seeing the teacher after class, everything was clear as day and the paper was a much easier to write.

    Senior: Middletown High School has been far more than a school for me in the past four years. It has been a second home, an adventure, and a place I have come to love. Middletown High School is a welcoming place that offers not only amazing opportunities through its myriad of classes but also through it wide selection of clubs and athletic teams. Beyond that, the fellow students I had the pleasure of attending this wonderful school were not only accepting but welcoming and always pushing each other to be our best. I can confidently say because of MHS that I am ready for college and I have no concerns about succeeding in school. I wish every teen could experience the intense pride and welcoming environment MHS has provided for me! While I am looking forward to graduation and the next exciting chapter that college will be in my life, I will always hold onto my Blue Dragon roots.

    Senior: I have found that seeking help from teachers outside of class time has been most rewarding at Weston High School. Doing this not only helped me better understand what was being taught during class, but it also gave me the opportunity to expand my knowledge to topics outside of the given curriculum. During my Junior year, I went to my chemistry teacher to review the topic of orbital hybridization and gained lots of knowledge about real-life examples.
    Also, at the beginning of Junior year, I failed my first test in high school in a very difficult class. To solve this, I went to see my teacher after school and ask for additional resources to help me study in more detail and with more efficiency. With the teacher's excellent help, I received an A+ on the next test I took in that class.
    These examples demonstrate how helpful the Weston High School staff can be, only if students take the given opportunities to meet with their teachers for extra instruction.

    Senior: Coming into a new school, I was very nervous and timid trying to adapt to a new environment where it was very open and revolving myself with more than 2,500 students. It was inevitable I would endure many obstacles and circumstances coming into Danbury High School. I wasn't the brightest student nor the most responsible student, but being a student at Danbury High has taught me those responsibilities, a maturity I incrementally obtained as I progressed throughout. Danbury High School has one of the best staff and teachers always offering their help to those who are eager and want to study. It all starts with you! To me, Danbury High School is the seed to your success and it all depends on you if you want to maintain and allow it to sprout in which that seed is what your success will be about. Danbury has a variety of clubs you can part take interest and endless activities held.
