Alum: I loved my high school experience at Greenwood. The atmosphere of pep rallies and games was something I could never forget. I joined almost every club and cheered throughout my four years there. Being involved is what made me who I am. It brought out a whole other version of myself that I and everyone around me grew to love. I became more outgoing, gained leadership, and started to be more open. The only thing I would change about Greenwood, is the way our teachers wouldn’t allow some things to happen. We would do the smallest things that aren’t even worth getting in trouble for, yet we did. Other than that everything was fun and free. Most of the time I got out of classes because the teachers needed something or because I was done with my work. Senior: I came to Lake Hamilton when I was in 7th grade. I didn’t know any English, but the teachers always found a way to help me out. I have always appreciated how much they’ve tried to help me, and I have to thank them for always being there when I’m struggling. I’ve met amazing people and they all contributed in getting me ready for my future career. The school offers so many classes, pathways, sports, and clubs for everyone who’s got their own liking. The school, in my opinion, has done a great job preparing us for college. There’s always so many options for whatever you need and counselors, teachers, and office ladies are always there for whenever you have a question. Sophomore: Vilonia High provides a good selection of electives, including but not limited to psychology, childcare and education classes, food and cooking based classes, science electives, art, band and choir, etc. Some teachers are wonderful and go above and beyond and some are just average. There are many clubs available to join, FBLA, FCCLA, HOSA, Spanish, Beta, etc. We have a variety of sports like football, baseball, basketball, swim, bowling, archery, and volleyball. Senior: Some things that I liked about Alma High School is the amount of programs and organizations offered. Clubs range from DECA and TSA to Drama and Golf Club, providing all students the opportunity to join clubs that they consider fun while presenting them with college opportunities. Our DECA and TSA clubs have been competing at state and winning for years but all that does is encourage them to work harder and receive more points for their next competitions. Some change I would like to see at our school is the amount of effort going into the students who are below the academic scale. I feel our school isn't providing enough or giving enough opportunities to those who need more help in Academics. This last year our school barley passed our overall reading and comprehension scores; yet I see that students in more advanced classes are the ones receiving the study material needed to bring these scores up rather than those in our non-advanced classes.... Junior: What I like the most about Pulaski Academy is the level of education that you receive during a person's time here. The curriculum is high level, as well as the classes. I also like the variety of classes that one can take. For example, there are a large number of art classes at the school, but if you are not into that, there are plenty of other classes such as varieties of math, computer science, and science. The community at Pulaski Academy is also great too, as the school's goal is to act as one big family. However, there are some downsides to going to this school. To start, some social aspects can be hard when you are with other people not from your school, as Pulaski Academy has a reputation of being a rich school for primarily white students, which does not sit well in today's society. Overall, students that attend here tend to be disrespected due to the school they go to. Overall though, the school provides a great education system that will help me succeed further in my life.... Sophomore: Northside High school is a very diverse school. Its diversity is what fueled its ideas and compassion. There was never a boring day at Northside Highschool, and many teachers were there to help students in any way possible. The coaching staff at Northside is nothing like I've seen before. I was blessed with the opportunity to meet a coach that brought me to the next level. I will say I wish Northside was more open to change and had more resources at hand. Sometimes Northside would be short-handed, and the teachers seemed overworked. Senior: I enjoy music and singing so I am part of Concert Choir and Chamber Singers. I used to play volleyball too. I like that the school allows students to be in in many sports and extra curriculars. We are also allowed to take college classes at North Arkansas College in our junior and senior year. We also have AP courses such as AP World History, AP Psychology, AP European History, AP Chemistry, and AP Calculus. The school also allows students to create clubs. Right now, I am involved in Leo Club and Science Club, but there are also many other wonderful clubs such as FBLA, Art, and Key Club. Senior: Shiloh is a really good school to be at! I struggled for a long time to find a school that fit me. When I made the decision to go to Shiloh I was pretty nervous because I was new and most the kids have known each other for a while. But the first day I got there I made a friend within 10 minutes. The teachers at Shiloh really care about how their students are doing and want to see us succeed. Most of the teachers are very interactive with students and the security officers are also very nice and can pick up a conversation with just about anyone. There are two things I am a little disappointed about with Shiloh. First, some of the classes that I am taking are complete blow-offs. Next is diversity. It has gotten a bit better as I have been at Shiloh but it still seems like it could improve. I understand that that is not the schools fault but I still would like to see a little more diversity in a school like this. Other than that it is a great school and I recommend it to everybody!... Alum: Growing up within the Junction City.. "District" as I should to call it, there's much to learn that I feel as if you couldn't obtain else where. Junction City, AR is just a tiny blip on the map. about a 1sq mile on the AR/LA border. More or less about 600 people (city limits) and 200 attend High School here. As much as I despise it sometimes, living in such a tight knit environment comes with its pros. Everyone knows everyone, which atleast here for me it wasn't a terrible thing. I didn't know about.. 60% of these people personally but it made for easy small talk or comfort from a familiar face. Although, the "I know your mom/pops/granddad's goldfish can get old very quickly from the teachers. Speaking of, with smaller more familiar classes it was easier for them to engage and connect with us personally. This went with the Administrative Staff as well. Sophomore: From the moment you wake up, there is something to look forward to. Whether it’s the 5 minute class change in the hallways, your 5th period class, lunch, or even just to see your friends, there is always something exciting waiting for you. The staff is amazing! They’re always encouraging you to do your absolute best and want you to be successful. I think it is important to build relationships with your teachers because then you start to feel more comfortable around them and a lot less diffident. That was my goal this year, and it’s safe to say I think I succeeded in doing so! It’s sad to see all of the amazing teachers we’ve known for a long time retire, but it’s exciting too! All those years of education, relationships, and helping students become successful… they’re so awesome! No school is perfect, however, De Queen High School is something different. Alum: I went to Little Rock Christian Academy for grades 6-12 and I am so thankful. I graduated in 2017 and I am now about to be a senior Christian Studies major in college. Because of the biblical foundation at LRCA, I was prepared to dive even deeper as I went on to pursue a career in ministry and study the Bible, because I could not imagine studying anything else! I am so thankful for my education from LRCA. They prepared me for all aspects of college, not just my major. LRCA taught me how to seek community and how the staff & teachers are seeking to help in anyway possible and I had never seen this on display in the way that it was at LRCA. Alum: From my short visit at Dardanelle High School, I can say it was pretty fun. Dardanelle High School is full of many of good people. The academics are above average and require a lot of critical thinking. The food is below mediocre. The teachers are great and know what they are doing when teaching. They give great one on one time in the classroom to help the students with whatever they need. You actually need to study for tests, there's really no such thing as winging it there. Senior: I definitely think that Bentonville High School is an amazing school. There are so many incredible opportunities for students, including participation in the Ignite program, Capstone Diploma program, International Baccalaureate, and dual enrollment with North West Arkansas Community College. My only complaint is that as a sophomore-year transfer, I was not given information on these opportunities and had no idea what they were until it was too late to participate. This is a minor setback compared to the ample opportunities I did receive. There is a class for everyone here, including agriculture classes, computer science classes, and tons of art classes. The food is amazing, with choices between nachos, sandwiches, pizza, chicken nuggets, and a grab-and-go cooler with various drinks and snacks! Did I mention there is an ice cream freezer?
