Senior: Antonian is such a great school, that has an even more supportive community that encompasses it! Not only do they provide and amazing education for all, but have numerous State winning athletic programs, such as Basketball, Cross Country and Volleyball. Their cheer and dance programs are also outstanding as they continue to bring National Championships to the school as well as being great spirit leaders for the school. The school offers so many different clubs and organizations with excited staff that are eager to engage with their students with their endeavors. The campus ministry program is fantastic as they offer IHS retreats for students of all grade levels, Kairos retreats exclusively for seniors, have retreats for every grade level, allow students to help lead weekly mass as Extraordinary ministers, lectors and be in choir. Parent: We are so happy that we discovered Lutheran High School for our daughter! She is genuinely happy to go to school each day. The academics are excellent. There are several Honors and AP options (History, English, Calculus I & II, Comp Science, Spanish etc) as well as dual credit engineering classes. Importantly, the students are not stressed out and miserable because the teachers and social environment are supportive and nurturing. Bullying and other toxic social issues that are prevalent at other schools are not present here. Athletics are top notch and welcoming to all abilities. Home games and even out of town games are well-attended by students, faculty and parents even if they don't have an athlete on the team. The Robotics, E-Sports, One Act Play etc provide excellent extracurricular opportunities. Senior: My senior class of 2020 would have been the first class to complete all four years of high school and graduate since our class was the one that opened up the school back in 2016. As a brand new school, we had the opportunity to create all new and lasting traditions that would leave a legacy. Although cut short by the pandemic, the teachers I've had have undoubtedly made me the person I am today by instilling in me a strong work ethic, determination, and have a true genuine care for the well-being of their students. This high school has some of the most remarkable and passionate teachers I've ever met, which has enriched my high school career so much. They have a number of extracurriculars and clubs that connect students and make each person at Churchill High School feel like they are part of a special community. One thing that Churchill High School can improve on is to reduce its use of paper. Senior: Attending Brennan High School was an opportunity that I will never regret taking up. The access to a well-taught education, a large campus, and resources that allow for educational growth is what makes Brennan High School a good school. I was able to converse and connect with a number of students and teachers, and even share memories that some may view as monumental or historic. Our athletic and sports shine their way throughout Brennan, with our glowing football and soccer teams. The only thing I wish Brennan could change would be the student's will to learn. Learning is something I idealize, and I know that due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the will to learn has diminished for many students. Senior: Somerset high school is not just a high school. The admin are doing a great job at keeping everything in order during these COVID-19 times by having, COVID screening every Monday, quarantine anyone who come out positive and the people that were around that person. Senior: From the day I arrived I've loved Incarnate Word! Everything from the modular schedule to the teachers to the best friends I've made! I really enjoyed the modular schedule at Incarnate Word. It allowed me to get my homework done during the day and taught me important time management skills. That way when I went home I hardly had to do any homework. I just had to study. I'm glad I learned time management skills by going through the schedule because I feel this has prepped me for college! Another thing the teachers there are great! They really want you to succeed and are always there to help you out. The class sizes are only about 15-23 people so the teachers are easy to access outside of class if you have questions or need help on a concept. Regarding the school atmosphere, all the girls here are very nice and we uplift one another. Junior: O'Connor is the absolute BEST school in the San Antonio Area, it's the most supportive, diverse, and inclusive school you'll ever come across. My experience has been nothing but great, and got me into a Top 20 College. The teachers are amazing, and there's tons of stuff to get involved in. It's the only NISD campus that's outdoors, and getting sun everyday is one of my favorite things about O'Connor. Administration is so close, and are fantastic with parents, they know ALL their students names. The Counseling Department is award winning, and O'Connor is so privldeged to have them. Freshman: I chose St. Anthony’s for its focus on development of the whole person. There is a down to earth, work hard for the education you deserve feeling, opposed to one of “entitlement” in some of the other private Catholic schools. Everyone is friendly and accepted. Sophomore: Karen Wagner High School is filled with diversity. Whether it’s religion, gender or race; everybody is different. That’s the main thing I enjoy at the school because there are people who are unique. When I meet new people, I experience a whole new aspect I haven’t experienced before. I also enjoy the many extra curricular activities like fashion club, robotics, and etc that brings people of similar interest together. With that comes making new friends, meeting several people and finding things about yourself that you haven’t known before. Wagner also provides courses that can assist in a student receiving college credit or to succeed in college. For instance, honors classes, Advanced Placement classes and Dual Credit, which is college classes. Although, with benefits comes with improvements. The food provided in the cafeteria can be better. Parent: Great teachers. There could be better communication when it comes to letting parents and students know what to expect and what clubs and services are available. It was not until my daughter was a senior that I was made aware (by another parent) that my daughter could have been taking college classes and getting college credit. I had her join the National Honor Society and paid dues but not until graduation was I aware that it was the "wrong National Honor Society" and not the one recognized by the school. Also, I didn't realize GPA to determine in magna cum, cum, etc... was calculated in the winter. Makes no sense to not be recognized for the last semester's grades. Senior: Harlan high school is a recently opened school, so it has a very clean a new campus. Harlan does a lot of things right when it comes to academics and sports. The teachers love to be with the students and are extremely helpful to all the students. The athletic coaches are even better, they push the athletes to be not only good athletes but great people. The school does an amazing job including all types of people and has a good environment all around campus. Senior: Roosevelt High School offers numerous classes and courses that you're able to take in order to better prepare you for college. But even though the academics at the school are top-notch, the school's safety and culture isn't the best. There are students who are constantly skipping class, disruptive students in the classroom and there's a fight almost every week. The students know what is expected of them, and they take all the opportunities the school provides. Cole is constantly changing, and it adds new classes and invites students to try many academic ventures. Teachers love what they do and share their knowledge with the students well. Here at Cole, we incorporate a "flex" system, that is to say, our schedules are flexible.
