- Rating 3.72 out of 5 53 reviews
Senior: At Rice Lake High School you feel welcome from the first day on campus. Going into senior year, I look back on my entire high school career and smile. Rice Lake High Staff members, approachable and positive, made it easy to feel included. My freshman year, I was nervous about being in a school with soon to be college students. The teachers recommended becoming a part of a club or sport to get to know the upperclassman outside of school; they were right. Participating in volleyball, softball, Future Business Leaders of America, and the National Honors Society made me recognize the older students as friends as oppose to classmates. As club teammates, we would work in small groups separated by specific goals. Coming together and overlooking our differences surpassed any other lesson I have learned in high school. Rice Lake High will always be home to me and I am proud to eventually become alumni.

Turtle Lake High School
#2 Best High Schools for Athletes in Barron County
- Turtle Lake School District, WI
- Rating 3.02 out of 5 44 reviews
Senior: I used to go to Chippewa Falls High School which was a significantly larger school than Turtle Lake. At Chippewa I felt more like a number than a student; so when I came to Turtle Lake I was able to get more one on one help from teachers. I used to not do good at all when it came to my grades but now I'm maintaining A-B grades and I made it onto the A Honor Roll for the first time ever my senior year. I love my school and I'm extremely lucky to have the teachers I do.

Senior: Small-town can be stifling at times, as everyone knows your business, but it's also sometimes nice, as teachers and staff truly know you and care. There are always trade-offs, but I wouldn't trade a small-town high school experience for anything...

Barron High School
#4 Best High Schools for Athletes in Barron County
- Barron Area School District, WI
- Rating 4.31 out of 5 16 reviews
Alum: I liked Barron High School for the most part. It had skilled teachers who knew what they were talking about and were able to make their subject matter engaging to students. The school also had plenty of clubs and extra curricular activities to enrich your experience. For example, if you enjoy music I would recommend the high school band. One thing that I do think needs improvement is that in some areas, the school is understaffed. If you have disabilities, there are people to help you, but you have to be patient with them because the case managers are overworked. There are too many disabled people and not enough people to help them succeed to the best of their abilities. The staff they do have for helping disabled people are helpful, the school just needs more money to hire more people.

Prairie Farm High School
#5 Best High Schools for Athletes in Barron County
- Prairie Farm Public School District, WI
- Rating 4 out of 5 15 reviews
Alum: Prairie Farm High School is the smallest school in its district (with less than 100 students enrolled in grades 9-12). My graduating class had 22 graduates, but of those few 3 of us applied and were accepted into the University of Wisconsin-Madison and are going into our senior years. I personally have been on the Dean's list every semester since my arrival on campus and my other classmates have done quite well for themselves as well. Though Prairie Farm High School is a smaller school it gives students every possible tool they could imagine to become as successful as they want to be in life.

Chetek-Weyerhaeuser High School
#6 Best High Schools for Athletes in Barron County
- Chetek-Weyerhaeuser Area School District, WI
- Rating 3.58 out of 5 59 reviews
Alum: Chetek-Weyerhaeuser High School is full of amazing staff members who help facilitate your success. A small number of students (55 in my graduating class) allows personal relationships to form between fellow students and staff. Unique grading policies allow students to turn in work late (at a percentage deduction) and retake tests (after following protocol). These policies encourage students to learn the content, but may not help prepare students for post-secondary education. The foreign language curriculum could use improvements.

Cameron High School
- Cameron School District, WI
- Rating 3.58 out of 5 33 reviews
Senior: Cameron High School was a great place to grow up. The teachers and staff are very helpful and listen to your problems. They want everyone to succeed. The school wants all the students to be involved in something. It is a goal to the teachers that every student has some activity they can be a part of. There is a great feeling of community and togetherness. Something I would change would be the time of day that announcements are done. They are given when half of the school is having lunch, which I'm sure leads to that population of the school not hearing anything that is going on. Because of that, it is hard for everyone to be on the same page with dates and times, and it can be confusing. Even for the staff. Overall, there is no where else I would have rather completed my first twelve years of school. It's been a wonderful time.
