Emma Willard School
- Private School
- Troy, NY
Senior: Emma Willard has a rigorous academic program that gave me plenty of opportunities to develop as a student and a person. There are plenty of resources on campus for academic help, whether it be through student tutors or the teachers themselves, who are often available during study hall. The students I learn alongside are some of the most intelligent, and have pushed me to become the best I am today.
The student body's awareness of social justice issues is also remarkable. In response, Emma has held events and discussions revolving around these issues, resulting in profound and rewarding conversations that I am grateful for.
I will say the lack of diversity in faculty is somewhat disappointing, considering the wide range of diversity among students. Additionally, the dining options have become redundant, having been a boarder for a few years here.
Overall, Emma Willard provides students with many fantastic opportunities—so long as you're willing to take advantage of them.

Alum: I was a student at Gardner Dickinson in k-8th grades. Gardner Dickinson is a very small school, with about 30 people in each grade. GD offers many clubs such as Odyssey of the Mind, Drama, Jazz Band and robotics. GD also has many sports and the teams have been very highly ranked during the seasons. The teachers are all extremely nice and my favorite still to this day works there(6th grade Mrs. Horacek).

Van Rensselaer Elementary School

Niche User: During that time the teachers and students all got along fairly well and everyone showed kindness towards one another. There weren’t many clubs or activities to be involved in and there were no college prep exertion as the other schools I attended. Also there was no huge school culture influence on the students but rather individual achievement commodations. Has great people working there but the few resources hinder it from becoming a better school than it could be.
