Hewlett Elementary School
#71 Best Public Elementary Schools in New York
- Hewlett-Woodmere Union Free School District, NY
Alum: When I was a kid in Hewlett Elementary School, my favorite thing were my teachers and the after-school program. The teachers were kind and caring, and made us feel welcomed into their classrooms. Additionally, they did an amazing job teaching us students. The classroom environment never felt boring, and there was always something our teacher would have us do that would engage us students, in one way or another. On top of that, the after-school program gave us kids the chance to do our homework or hang out with others until our parents arrived. On special days, the program allowed us kids to go outside and play kickball, or go upstairs and play dodge-ball. Recently, I went back to check out my old school and I found out they removed both these activities in efforts to make the school a safer place, and most of the teachers I had, ended up retiring.

The Town School
- Private School
- New York, NY
- PK, K-8
Parent: Town strikes the right balance between academic excellence and a supportive environment that has brought out the best in my two children. My older student is graduating this year and loves the science and math teachers and programs. He has also been active in the coding and robotics clubs. He has been in the Senate for three years which has been a wonderful leadership experience. My younger one is very athletic and enjoys participating in and competing in team sports - soccer and basketball. He's a hands-on learner who especially likes learning Spanish and being in team projects. Lastly, we feel blessed to be a part of this close-knit, collaborative community.
