Pine View School
1 Best Public Elementary Schools in Florida
- Sarasota County Schools, FL
Parent: Pine View is sometimes criticized for lacking diversity, and it one key reason why this school isn't consistently ranked #1. That's because the school is a true meritocracy where your character, intelligence, discipline and hard work are important and ethnicity is not. Getting into this school is easier than staying in so parent engagement and participation is just as important as the student's.
Like any public school where teachers are protected by an omnipotent union, there are a lot of them that shouldn't be teaching, but are tolerated because the union forces the admin to do so. Parents must navigate their kids through the bad which is an unfortunate reality. However, the good ones will make you forget the bad because the good ones are really, really good.
When graduates come back to talk to current students a year or two later, the universal comment is about how easy college was for them because they were so well prepared at Pine View.

Corbett Preparatory School of IDS
- Private School
- Tampa, FL
- PK, K-8
Works Here: I've always said that I want to work at a school that I can be proud of and Corbett Prep has made me proud over and over again. The campus is second-to-none and really needs to be seen to be believed. The buildings are situated around a pond and we are next to Lake Lipsey. When you walk around the campus, you feel like you've been transported to a nature preserve or a national park. The teachers are truly some of the most talented, compassionate, and hardworking teachers I know. And I've known a lot! I'm so proud of them and how committed they are to our students. Students graduate from 8th Grade at Corbett Prep with such a unique skill set, ready to take on the challenges of high school (and of life!) confidently and with courage.

Imagine School - North Port
- Sarasota County Schools, FL
Senior: Imagine School - North Port is a small school with a very tight-nit community. Students who come from tiny private schools or bustling public schools will enjoy the atmosphere provided at Imagine. The teachers there show passion and expertise in their field, especially when working with those in the Honors Program. Most sports takes a backseat at Imagine, but certain sports like the cross country team, boys wrestling and girls volleyball have committed players and quality coaches. The clubs are an exciting way to become more involved at school and new clubs are added every year. If I could change one thing about Imagine, it would be the amount of parent/student participation. In the past, the school had a big lack of school spirit, but ever year more and more students are doing activities that are fun, exciting, and helpful to the community. I can honestly say now is a great time to be an Imagine Shark!
