Prairie Crossing Charter School
109 Best Public Elementary Schools in Illinois
- Public School
- Grayslake, IL
High School Senior: I had an amazing experience at Prairie Crossing. I feel especially prepared for AP Environmental Science which I am acing as a senior in high school this year. The friends I made were lifelong ones and, besides math (which I personally slacked off on, so it's not entirely the school's fault) I felt very prepared for high school. I'm a PC kid for life!

Westlake Christian Academy
30 Best Private K-12 Schools in Illinois
- Private School
- Grayslake, IL
- PK, K-12
Alum: Westlake Christian Academy is not perfect--no school is, especially small private schools. Sure, they do not have as many AP classes or clubs as a public school, but that's what you would expect from such a small school. What differentiates Westlake is the people. Never have I had such a group of caring teachers or friends around me. Everyone there, student or faculty, truly cares about you and your education. Furthermore, the spiritual formation at the school is incredible. Westlake has helped me grow in my faith significantly, even though I was only there for a few short years. Additionally, there are benefits to going to a smaller school! Camaraderie within classes was wonderful, and even an average athlete can compete on multiple varsity sports teams. Even though it often gets a bad rep, I would hands down fully recommend Westlake to any parents or students looking for a quality education in a Christian environment; you won't find anywhere better!

Olive C. Martin School
926 Best Public Elementary Schools in Illinois
- Lake Villa Community Consolidated School District No. 41, IL
Parent: The teachers, principal and staff are amazing. The foster a culture that is inclusive, fun and extremely conducive to learning. They teach more than the three R's and STEM. Each person actively engages students to help the children become all they can be.
In my opinion, the hot lunches leave a lot to be desired on both nutritional and palatable scales.
Also, we parents aren't as engaged as we can be. It seems like the PTO is always needing to beg at the last minute for volunteers. Also, more parents helping, especially for the early levels would be a huge plus.

Raymond Ellis Elementary School

Niche User: Raymond Ellis is a good school. I went there when I was little and the teachers helped me out a lot specially because I didn't speak much English and everyone always tried to understand me.
