Parent: We love The Downtown School! Small classes, excellent and experienced teachers, and diverse student body. The parent volunteer commitment gives the school a wonderful sense of community. There is a reason the lottery waitlist is so long every year! What a special place.

Epiphany is a great place, a family that I have been a part of for most of my life. Almost everyone is friendly and the teachers are fantastic. I am glad to have been here it is such an uplifting environment. Stop Hunger Now! has always been one of my favorite traditions with the school. Also, the travel opportunities are not to be missed, they are always fantastic!
Overall the academics are great for the average student, but for those that fall below or above average it will be challenging. (Academics are already very challenging here, the average mid-B student at public school can expect mid to high C's). There are a limited number of AP classes that high-schoolers can take. The teachers here are fantastic. They actively care about the students and get to know everyone of them. I could not ask for better teachers.

The North Carolina Leadership Academy

Senior: Since the first year of the school in 2012, the NCLA has undergone many changes, in students, in staff, and even in buildings. I have been a student at the NCLA from day one, and I am proud to say that is where I have gone to school. Although the administration seems harsh sometimes, and students don't have the normal middle or high school experience, the education, and ideals instilled in the students more than prove that this school is great.
Due to the schools' small size, students have the ability to get to know each and every one of their teachers. I have personally found that it is easier to improve and get help from teachers because I feel as though I can actually relate to them. The only award the school wouldn't be winning from me is a diversification award although there is a small degree of ethnical diversity and although it appears to be getting larger, the population at the school is still predominately white.
