Freshman: CA is an incredible school with incredible people. Their balance of different curriculums through different teachers while still feeling unified is amazing, plus the freedoms that are granted through the different options you have to choose from are great. The teachers and students are great people, and even the grounds crew/custodians are very friendly. They also do an incredible job of keeping the absolutely stunning campus clean and tidy. Parent: I have been a parent at SMA for the past nine years. St. Mary's Academy (SMA) welcomed my three grade school children with open arms when we moved to Colorado. I can't way enough about the warmth of this community and the confidence the school instilled in my three children. Our family has always appreciated the authentic way that each student is embraced and celebrated. As with any school, there are periods of transition or reinvention, but I have only seen SMA become stronger over the years. Sophomore: I have gone to the school since kindergarden and there are many good things about the school in its many clubs and programs such as our fairly decent sports program, wood shop, design lab, robotics lab and more! However the school does have many shortcomings as there are some teachers who are not too great to say the least, the school scheduled changes literally every single year as it hasn't stayed consistent for more than 2 years since 2016, and there is alot of homework, like alot of homework. The average day in the school can consist of around 3-4 homework assignments from my experience so if you do go here be prepared to loose sleep trying to finish assignments and projects. Overall if you are considering trying to get into this school it is a charter school that only accepts gifted kids so you need to reach that benchmark on an IQ test so overall I would recommend trying to go somewhere else just purely because of the workload this school has.... While I would recommend the school, it feels like a better experience for very advanced students than for pretty regular students. I thought such a small school would be great for my regular student so that they weren't just a number, and we've been a bit disappointed. Senior: CVA is an amazing school, to say the least. Having been attending CVA for the past 12 years I have been engulfed in an academic-rich environment. Senior: Peak to Peak is a very encouraging environment. As a student, I feel very prepared for college through their college prep courses and taking AP exams, as the teachers are amazing! I feel like I’ve learned so much and grown in so many skills, I really do recommend trying to go here. I think the only downside to this school is the culture of overachieving and the pressure to make grades determine your worth. I can say for certain that many students I know deal with this, even myself. Middle School Student: Ive attended since fourth grade, and Id like to begin discussing the application process. Its difficult to get into this school unless you have a sibling who has attended or is presently attending at Challenge. Obtaining a recommendation letter from your current school's teacher is also an easier option to gain admission to the school. When it comes to clubs, the school is fiercely competitive, particularly in lego robotics, TSA(Technology Student Association), Chess, and Math Club. The school places a lot of emphasis on writing and math. However, I wish the school would have its own sports team because I know a lot of athletes that go to different places to participate in sports. This school welcomes diversity, and kids who join clubs like WEB, PACK players, and another one that I cant recall right now get to lead assemblies that discuss topics that children should be aware of(eg: bullying). Parent: We moved to Denver 8 years ago to enroll our oldest son in Kindergarten at Denver Waldorf. What drew me to Waldorf was the experiential learning and a ton of outdoor activities offered. Now that my three sons, ages 13, 11 and 9 are all enrolled, my favorite part of the school is the community. We all came to Waldorf because we wanted something better for our children than what was offered elsewhere. We are told by neighbors and strangers how well-spoken our boys are. I don’t think we can attribute all of this to ‘nature’, ‘nurture’ is something they are receiving at home AND at school. They are part of a movement that is desperately needed now more than ever. The teachers are kind and thoughtful, and they really get to know each child. In their grade school they typically have the same teacher for at least 4 years. Sophomore: DJDSis the most amazing school, home, family, and community. Going to this school has allowed me to flourish in ways that could never be replicated anywhere else. Secularly, the teachers are so invested in my learning and will always find a time to meet with me to go over stuff and genuinely want me to succeed. In regards to the Judaic program, It has allowed me to discover God and spirituality, without ever telling me what I should believe. The classesmerely push you to challenge your own beliefs and think deeply about the subject so every student can benifit.Most importantly, DJDS has given me my second family I can walk down the hallway everyday and be surrounded by people I can count on. DJDS transformed me from a timid 6th grader who was nervous to ask a teacher to fix my grade. Parent: Our son is a graduating senior (2023) and we can't be happier at STEM. He was part of the first elementary class (grade 5) and has been at STEM ever since. This has allowed him to develop close friendships with peers, great relationships with teachers and staff, and a solid career path at age 17. He will actually graduate from college with an Associate's degree in Cybersecurity before he graduates from high school! This was made possible with participation in P-Tech and the Concurrent Enrollment programs. He is now well-prepared for college and for life. Senior: I've been a student at Mile High my entire life. It is a small Christian school so it's not always able to offer the resources and clubs that other schools might have. I would love to see more funding go to arts, clubs, electives, and staffing as opposed to athletics. Mile High has a fantastic athletic department, I only wish the other programs could improve to match it. Overall I love the community, and I've made life-long friends! Going to miss Mile High!...
