Parent: Our children moved from a local State school to BISB three years ago. From day one the school has provided a first class academic and social education, helping children become well rounded members of the community. The curriculum is varied, thought-provoking, interesting, and challenges and encourages the children to be creative and ambitious. The teaching staff are very attentive to each individual child’s learning capabilities and needs, and the small class sizes are a definite advantage. As an international family we are excited that our children will have the opportunity of doing the IB Diploma, a highly regarded and recognized qualification that provides children with a wonderful springboard to move into higher education not only in the US, but worldwide. Overall as parents we are thoroughly impressed with the school as a whole, but more importantly our children are engaged and interested in their education and really enjoy attending school each day. Parent: We are so happy to have found ISB! Our three children are in lower, middle, and upper school, so we've seen a good cross section of the entire school experience. The lower school bilingual program is a real advantage - a good balance of English and French - and it's also accredited, which is what we were looking for. Other schools offer full immersion, but at the expense of learning English and they are not accredited. The middle school does a great job of attending to well-being in addition to continuing the bilingual opportunities. Our older son chose to take more French classes in middle school when he was younger, but our middle son is opting for more English. Both have had good experiences. Our older son is currently studying for the IB diploma in the Upper School. The level of personal attention he is getting from his teachers and the new college counselor is tremendous and way more than we could have ever expected if we had put him in the local public school.... Parent: We have children in all divisions of the school. It has been an unbelievable experience for all of our kids! Our kids always want to be at school. They feel loved and connected in addition to loving the curriculum and coming home every day to tell us what they are learning. They are engaged and excited about learning! Parent: We are incredibly happy with GISB. The teachers are fantastic, ridiculously competent, compassionate, and exemplarily dedicated. Even during the recent COVID-19 challenging months the online lessons excelled our expectations. One could tell that lots of thought, dedication and effort goes into preparing and delivering them, always with phenomenal enthusiasm and energy level. Parents are kept in loop with timely Infomails that describe the lessons and assignments step-by-step. In addition, there are classroom-specific Newsletters that go out with precision and punctuality every week. GISB is more than a school. It is a community that shares the common vision of upbringing multi-lingual children that aspire to make a positive difference in the world. Parent: The admistration is highly productive. They did not lose a day of teaching in the pendemic. They has no expereince for the online teaching before the covid hited us. Right after the spring break, online lessons were started as a half day program on Monday. On Wednesday, they switched to a whole day class to fully engage students. They never missed the summer camp and even open the campus much earlier than most other schools still did not know how to open their campus. It truely respect people's choice & rights. Never force anyone to be vacinnated. They teach kids critical thinking by allow them to listen to all perspectives instead of teaching kids to one direction which would altimatly destoy the country. Teachers are really caring about kids and would approach parents regarding how to help the kids become better. Not the fake love elsewhere. Great school with true loves, caring and common sense. Middle School Student: I went to Heath School for grades K - 7, and I overall had a okay experience there. 6th grade was my best year, as during the COVID-19 shutdown, I became very close to a Maths teacher who used to work there, and she was always very kind to me. She was a wonderful teacher too, as she helped build an understanding and love for Mathematics with her students. However, in 7th grade, after she had stopped working at the school, I found out that I could not keep in touch with her because of a rule, which made me feel very sad, as I miss her.... Niche User: I went here 10 years ago for elementary school only. It was neat. A lot of the teachers were skilled and really cared about their jobs, and the resources to support me when I had a mental health crisis were pretty extensive as well (if maybe a bit heavy on transferring responsibility to someone else at first.) I don't know if the same nurse still works there, but she was an especially wonderful, caring resource. I learned everything I needed to be prepared for higher grades here, and some extra things.
