Alum: This is a fantastic school, but it’s not for everyone. To suceed here, students must be very self-motivated, as it is inherently easy to get away with doing the bare minimum. However, its small size, loose structure, and devoted teachers mean students develop a large amount of academic independence. The transition from Little River to college is extremely easy. Senior: Lisbon Central School helped me shatter my shell and build confidence in myself and my abilities. If it wasn't for the administration and teachers in this school, I probably would have passed through my Junior and Senior years without a care, avoiding college and ending up at a boring slave-wage job in the next town over. But - because the faculty cared about me and gave me constant opportunities to shine as a Graphic Designer, Editor of the School's Newsletter, and a Producer of Sports Livestreams from Baseball to Soccer, I began to believe in myself. I'm now attending Kansas State University, aiming to score a job with the NCAA. I can't thank the staff here enough for all the times they believed in me even when I didn't believe in myself.... Senior: I have attended Hammond Central School since Kindergarten. Since Kindergarten, I'v grown up with a core group of friends and we feel like we've known each other forever..and we kinda have! We are close and that is a great thing. I have been very lucky in having some of the best teachers any student could ask for. They are all very supportive and hands-on. We are a super small school, with approximately 260 kids. Because we are small, the teachers are able to connect more one-on-one time with us and it really helps. I wish there were a few more challenging courses and a few more choices for sports, but being a small school, there are those few disadvantages. otherwise, this being my senior year, I have a lot of pride in my little school and how we all look after each other. Parent: Great small school with caring teachers and administrators. As all small schools here in the poorest part of the state, funding is an issue. This year the district has nearly 70 % free and reduced lunch counts. This is a great school community to raise a family in. Senior: I really like the teachers and the fact it's a small school. You know everyone in your class and other grades as well. Wish there were more opportunities for college credits. Alum: As a the year of 2018-2019 began we (the senior class) were yet reminded and asked a question, that would change our outlook for the rest of the year. The answer was not simple, it took and will take some time to get any reasonable answer. The question was “Why are YOU here(at this school)?” It May seem easy and you might say “EDUCATION” but only those who don’t understand will say that. Those who wish to only see the exterior and negativity of this school will not get very far. As a reminder to those who have commented and rated for MY SCHOOL, The Holy Name of Jesus Academy is a CATHOLIC , ALL GIRLS BOARDING SCHOOL, that is run by mothers. In case the high school seniors of 2015 forgot, there is a qualification needed, sacrifice. If you attend this school, why are you there what will your purpose be?
