Parent: We enrolled our son in Fork Union Military Academy after seeing so many YouTube videos that touted the benefits of the one-subject program and the school. The promise of focus, structure, and accomplishment came through. He passed all his classes in this, his first year, a sophomore at FUMA. We took advantage of their academic success program. There he found continuous support and cheers! They found novel approaches to reach him, took the time to learn about him, and flexed their approaches. I have been concerned in the past about the ability of teachers who are not Black to 'see my son' as an individual. At FUMA, they know him, challenge him to be his best, hold him accountable, and motivate him. I am proud of what he has done this year. As a testament to the place, he is looking forward to going back in the Fall - he's proud that he's earned a promotion in rank and knows he can do even better academically. Amazing.... Parent: Commonwealth Academy is above and beyond what anyone could possibly imagine for their child. We needed to find a small, specialized school so that our daughter could thrive and succeed. It was a thrill to find such an inclusive atmosphere filled with dedicated administrators and teachers. My daughter has an anxiety disorder and OCD. Every single teacher CARES. The combination of education, creativity and fun that they have created is unmatched. The classrooms are small and kids with every learning difference are treated with respect and patience. Without the chaos and fear of a big school, our daughter got past the nerves that held her back and learned to speak to adults and advocate for herself. She had warm and nurturing advisors who saw her potential and appreciated her strengths - they gave her CONFIDENCE. Senior: Maharishi School has been one of the most amazing and wonderful experiences of my life. I have grown so much as a person here. Being a boarding student has also really helped in so many ways such as making new friends and learning how to be independent and it has also really helped me learn how to get along when living with other people! Since Maharishi School is a college-based education school it really prepares you for college and how to venture out into the world. The staff and faculty, teachers, students and everyone work so well together to have a peaceful and understanding community. The practice of Transcendental Meditation has also really helped me grow both academically and socially! If you are scrolling through the reviews and are trying to figure out whether this school is a good match for you or not then this is the comment that's going to make you want to attend this school!...
