Alum: The thing I relished the most about this school was the loving community. Back in public school I dreaded attending each day. I strongly felt like nobody cared about me. But when I transferred to this private Christian school it was like a whole new world! Right from the start everyone was so welcoming and nice. It was something special to attend class and be taught by teachers who you could clearly tell cared about their students. Subjects that I used to find difficult were made easier thanks to those very teachers. I was also able to overcome a lot of the anxiety I'd developed back in public school thanks to the kindness I was met with. I surprised myself by participating in theater, various clubs, and tons of other activities that I in any other setting would never have taken part in. I can confidently say that the only reason why I'm a Christian today is because that school not only taught me about the love of God but made me FEEL it too. Parent: Shoreline Christian is a fabulous school! My son started at SCS in kindergarten. I wasn't totally sure about private school when we started, but now that he is there, I can't imagine him anywhere else. He is on the autism spectrum, and the teachers and staff have been so caring and encouraging of him. They take the time to do what is needed to provide support in the areas that are challenging for him, but they always see him from the viewpoint of recognizing and nurturing his strengths. The smaller class sizes make it possible for teachers to really individualize their teaching to meet each kid where they are, whether needing extra support or extra challenge. The parent community is hard-working, kind, and honestly accepting--I feel like we care about one another's kids and their well-being as we care about our own. There is an atmosphere of joy and excellence. We are very happy we chose CCS for our daughter as she transitioned from elementary to junior high. They offer honors classes and advanced math in junior high which provides the challenge our student needed. Parent: 2 years in and we could not be happier. Most teachers here are very seasoned. They hold authority with compassion and discernment. We've done some serious searching before landing here at PCA. We continue to make sure this is where we want to continue and we have not found a school that surpasses our high standards. I can personally attest that the admin group here is extremely passionate regarding the growth both academically and spiritually for these students. Any issue or concern we've had has immediately been addressed. The constant validation and support they give is why we will remain here with our full support. Junior: Overall experience at the Oaks has been amazing! When I started in freshman year, the students were very welcoming and made an effort to make me feel included. The teachers are very capable and concerned about the students’ well being. I would advise new students to start a club or find some way to contribute to the school community, like being the play, orchestra, or tutoring another student. The administration is very open to new possibilities. The academics are very well rounded, it would nice if there were advanced placements courses available, but students are able to register for as many AP exams as they would like and the college counsellor is invaluable in that process. The school is getting new building so the facilities will be brand new in the next few years. The family community is very close knit and there is no issue with finding rides or any other needs from newer families. Sophomore: I’ve been at cedar tree for a while now…the community is really good, and because it’s a smaller school, we all know each other. The teachers are very supportive and seek to help you in every way they can. It’s a hard school, but it definitely prepares you for college! Freshman: I have been at Tacoma Baptist since pre-kindergarten, and I never want to leave. Everyone here is like a family. The teachers will check in on you if you're having a bad day, and my classmates are all super close. There is a comfortable, Biblically based culture at TBS. People who are newer to the school often comment on how kind everyone is, and how our community is so much better than their previous schools. We are taught by amazing teachers who are super knowledgable, but also fun, kind, and caring. The small classes, while maybe limiting clubs or elective options, allow for positive learning and good connections with classmates and other students. Additionally, because it is a small school, many people use multiple talents, instead of having to choose one. a Drama kid could also choose to do art, basketball, volleyball, Spanish, and track, all in one year (although these aren't the only options). Niche User: When my granddaughters enrolled as kindergarteners at Kent View Christian Elementary, I was a little hesitant. Senior: Cedar Park is an amazing school with outstanding faculty who are interested in knowing you outside of academics and will do everything in their power to help you succeed and keep the tuition affordable even if it means taking a pay cut themselves. Many teachers host free tutorials in their classrooms before and after school hours. The school is also very accommodating to people with disabilities and learning challenges. However, the school simply does not receive any financial aid from the state due to being a christian institution and can only provide so much in the way of equipment that is not provided by someone outside of the school. Parent: Our family has been thoroughly impressed with Providence. We have seen our children's confidence and character grow steadily in a wonderful direction as they have progressed at the school from kindergarten on. We currently have three boys at the school, with the oldest being a 7th grader, and I'm blown away by what they know and can explain at their age compared to the education I received in public school (which may not be saying much)! Combining the excellent and rigorous scholastic education with Christian character building is a recipe for success. I'd recommend that anyone interested in Providence assess it against a different rubric. It's not going to provide some big school amenities or feel like a bustling campus. Parent: We’ve been part of the Crosspoint family for three years and wouldn’t have our kids go anywhere else. The reviews are not indicative of what we’ve experienced at all. The teachers and staff are the most amazing people both spiritually and academically. The curriculum is challenging and our kids are grades ahead of their public school peers. Theres a reason 96% of graduating seniors go to college and receive an astonishing amount of scholarships- this school is top notch! If your child can’t live without their phone or want to wear ripped jeans to school and do enough to just get by it’s not the place for them or you but if you value a Christian centered education where children are dressed nicely, are passionate about their education and are taught respect and compassion all while receiving an excellent education taught by the best teachers I highly recommend it.... Alum: I enjoyed the theatre department immensely. There were many opportunities for students to help create art together, in the theatre but also the pottery class and the select choirs. I found the AP classes challenging and a few of the teachers truly committed to preparing students for college. There should be a wider variety of academic options for students who work better with projects than papers and there could be more hands-on classes. While there was good preparation for college, I didn’t feel like there was enough preparation for other life things, such as taxes, checks, and making buisness connections. Parent: Our daughter is finishing her freshman year. First child at ELHS. We are thrilled with the level of Christ-center education and overall learning. There are ample sports available and being a smaller school, the ability to participate is excellent at every skill level. The staff is terrific and it's a great campus for the smaller student body to expand into over time. There are pros/cons to big public vs small private. I went to a huge public (Puyallup HS) and Evergreen is a much better Christian environment with tougher academics for my children. We intend to have both children graduate from ELHS.
