Alum: I really liked going here! I attended this school from second grade until I graduated high school, and I wouldn't change it for the world. I love the friends I made, and the school spirit. The only issues I would say are: the deans and administration are not on your side and want to punish people. Detentions are handed out left and right, dress code is beyond strict, and seniors do not get any privileges. Despite all of this, finding a good of people at this school will get you through the day, and you will love Willow. Parent: Definitely has been outstanding experience for my kids! I love that it is PK-12 so no need to do anymore crazy New Orleans school lotteries once you are in… I am praying my youngest gets in next year bc getting this type of education for free is a life saver for us and we get to put what would be private school tuition into college saving accounts for our kids. The school keeps getting even better and has made a lot of improvements with academics recently. The only challenges I can think of would be the definite culture gap with having teachers from all over the world so there is miscommunication sometimes and I don’t know why, but there is a small group of parents that are total nut jobs mostly high school parents. They love loud dramatics and malicious gossip so I wish the school would to something to fix them, but most parents are normal, great and supportive of the school.... Read 10 reviews

Junior: My overall experience with Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy has been pleasant. The best part of my experience has been being able to connect with different people and being involved in different clubs and school activities. Kenner Discovery has provided plenty of great after school activities. Many are driven by a great group of students coming from all different places; I love that our school is diverse. Kenner Discovery has also provided me with great academic achievement up until this day. I am very thankful for the opportunity that I get to be able to attend this school. Part of my great experience has been the safety. Kenner Discovery has welcomed us with the feeling of safety and security. The worst part of my experience has been getting used to the different rules that have been placed because of the misconduct of others. Parent: Everything about our experience was wonderful. The teachers are exceptional. They genuinely care about their students’ education and over all well being. The administration and support staff was very helpful and quick to respond. The parent/teacher communication is easy via the app and weekly newsletter. We had very good experience with speech therapy. The outdoor facilities are nice-good play area and good resources for exercise and play for recess and PE. They did a fantastic job handling covid issues. I love the proximity to Walnut St. playground for after school. The building is beautiful and safe. The PTO is active and does a good job of organizing events to involve parents and show appreciation for the teachers. It is a very good community and my kids are off to a great start to a life in which they ENJOY learning. I had a kindy and a 1st grader this year. Alum: I enjoyed my time at Rooted. While from an objective standpoint it is not the best option out there, it truly is an innovative school. Especially in the greater New Orleans area. Its goal of sending students out with a college acceptance letter in one hand and a job offer in the other is admirable and I can get behind it. What it lacks in sports and art it makes up for by preparing students for a real-world workspace. We were able to learn most of the Adobe suite, 3D printing, Coding, and even game design. Parent: I love the opportunity for my grandchildren to learn a different language. ISL is a top 10 language immersion school, kindergarten through 8th grade, average size classrooms with 2 teachers each. Along with the core subjects, Art, Circus Arts, Music, and PE are included. They have a good after care program. In the morning there is carpool dropoff, but no carpool pickup in the afternoons, so I would like that to change. Bus service can be provided depending on your location. There are several campuses that teach Spanish, French, and other languages, teachers are from various countries. It's an amazing school! Kindergarten students are not required to know the target language upon enrollment, 2d grade students must have knowledge of the target language to be accepted into ISL. Alum: When i first found out i was attending George Washington Carver i cried, I didn’t wanna go there where nun of my friends would be so i was kinda upset . The first day of school was really overwhelming for me because i knew a lady i met outside of Carver and i felt like she was picking on me by calling my momma the first 2 days of school . Time went by and we’ve became best friends we came to a realization that what happens outside of school will stay there and built a connection . Senior: Overall, this institution is great for anyone looking to become college or military ready. It offers a variety of Honors and Advanced Placement classes, which have some of the best teachers I've ever gotten the opportunity to learn from. The value of this school really depends on what you make of it; those who don't take advantage of the experience don't have much to gain from it, which weeds out the weak. It essentially does everything a military school is supposed to do. Furthermore, it feels much safer than any other school I have attended, never do I feel like I am in danger. Junior: New Harmony is like no other high school in New Orleans. In our little community, everyone knows each other and support each other. Every student is being prepared for real world life and situations, and as a school we don't focus on an education which we are programmed to pass exams, we focus on our own interests and finding little pieces of ourselves. Every single person in New Harmony, staff or student, express themselves through their style, interests, goals, etc. No one is judged, everyone accepts each other for who they are and want to be. Junior: Frederick A. Douglass High School is a good school; I like Douglass as a school, but I have a love-hate connection with some of the teachers. My classmates are quite lovely; we always assist one another and have a good time as a group. There's nothing I can really say terrible about the school except the food. When it comes to the food, some days you'd enjoy it and most days you'd have it, but if you don't want it, there's an alternative, which is salad. Our basketball team is good, not the best, but good, as are our football team, girls basketball team, girls volleyball team, flag, dance team, and so forth. You'll enjoy Douglass.... Senior: What can I say about JCFA? Well a lot, I was at JCFA for 2 years and it changed my life forever. I’m serious. I was out of school for a year from a previous high school I was at and I had turned 18 that exact year so then when I tried to re-enroll in the high school I was at previously. They would not accept me. So at first it all seemed hope was lost. That I may not get an education. But then September of 2020. JCFA changed my life and I graduated JCFA East in March of 2023. Senior: I did have a good time at the school and met great people there. You can make friends at the school. You can even make friends with the teachers. The teachers care about their jobs. They want to help be successful in college, if you want to go to college. They show you different options you can choose after you graduate from the school. Whenever you more support on something like classwork, trying to choose the best college for you, or try to apply to college, they can help you with them.
