Senior: Ever since I started school back in the last semester of my sophomore year, I have realized that the school really goes with its name, Gateway Science Academy. It really focuses on science and mathematical studies. The science fairs that are held and always immaculate. It was also chosen the best charter school in Missouri. I really loved how the teachers actually put in effort to make students feel comfortable. The only negative side is that there are no outside beach areas where we could take some fresh air. The windows are always closed and I would really love it at least we could have a ten minute break and an area sit outside. Senior: I have been attending Academie Lafayette since kindergarten. During my time at this school I have seen a lot of changes, many teachers and admin come and go, school policy and curriculums change, and more. I think that recently ALIHS has become more strict in terms of rules and dresscode, but the academic level has never faultered. The school is not very diverse - at least the highschool isn't, but it is becoming more diverse every year. I have made a lot of good friends here and made many connections. I even had the opportunity to visit Senegal with my school in the summer between my junior and senior year. Beyond that, all of my teachers have been very helpful and with small class sizes at my school, I have been able to connect and really make progress with my teachers and understand my grades, which is very important, especially for me as an IB Diploma Programme Candidate.... Alum: As an alum of Allen Village High School, I will always cherish the special moments I had spending nine year roaming the halls of both the K-8 school and the high school. Although this is not my favorite school when it comes to the lack of sports and the mediocre meals. The teachers' and counselors' endless support, even as you enter college, is what really leaves a special place in my heart for this school. I have more bad things to say than good, but I can ensure that your child is safe as the school is very strict against bullying and violence. The teachers and counselors work to protect and provide a safe learning environment for the children and teens attending this school. Throughout the years, I have seen a lot of growth in the school as it began to offer more clubs and organizations, creative electives, and even live performances for families and students. Senior: I've been at UA since I was in kindergarten, so I have a lot of experience and a connection to my school. UA has never been easy, times got hard throughout every year that I've attended. But, UA has never come up short of preparing students for the future and anything that may come up for students in the future. UA continues to supports students while they're in college, keep students and staff connected with another by doing annual picnics, and made sure every student remained to feel seen and heard regardless of the situation. Senior: FSE is a very diverse school with mostly caring and knowledgeable teachers. Unfortunately, FSE is a tiny school with about 375 students 6-12, which limits many of the activities/events that normal high school students usually get. There is also a severe need for a review and reconstruction of their science curriculum, as it (at least for my senior class) has not been very engaging /helpful since we were in middle school. I also do feel like some of our teachers were hired because of the connections they have within the district, and not because of their ability to teach. All of these teachers are well-educated and knowledgeable in their fields, but being knowledgeable in a field doesn't always mean you should be teaching it. Aside from that, I truly love being in class with some of my teachers and in those classes, I learn a lot. Senior: My experience at Guadalupe Centers High School has been mostly positive. The best part was the supportive community and dedicated teachers who always made time for extra help. I enjoyed the small class sizes, which made learning more personalized. However, the worst part was the lack of resources in some areas, like outdated textbooks and limited extracurricular activities. It would be great to see more opportunities for students to explore different clubs and programs, and perhaps an update to the school's facilities to better support learning and extracurricular engagement.... Alum: I came into DeLaSalle during my Sophomore year. As a student with a 1.84 gpa within my first two weeks I did a full 360° and got my 4.0 that I held through my highschool career. I went on to be in student government and get to executive bored, sports manger and head of sports management, I became the reporter I ran the bookstore, I did jobs over the school years and summers to help DeLaSalle develop. though they do have a huge issue with favoritism and it shows when students are having behavioral difficulties, and a lack of communication. Freshman: My experience at Kairos Academies High School has been amazing so far! I love then community enviroment that they provide and thier learning model. I love how they pair students up with mentors and provide one-on-one counseling. Kairos Academies is truly "a hidden gem" as they would say. Kairos Academies offers an amazing enviroment and community. Everyone knowes each other and we are like family. Kairos Academies teachers work really hard to make sure that students understand and are interested in thier academics. My mentor keeps me up on my education and gives me confidence. Junior: ALIHS is ana mazing school with its academiecs however, the sports facilities could be a lot better than they are currently. We don't have a proper gym for gym class or sports that require a gym.
