Junior: I am currently a junior at MMACHS and attending this school has been one of the best decisions I have ever made! The staff and students are amazing people, and to me, they feel like my second family. Everything at MMACHS is amazing, whether it be the academics or the extracurricular activities. Furthermore, this school has provided me with so many opportunities that I wouldn’t have been able to experience if I was at a public Highschool. Senior: I've been at Liberty Charter school since 4th grade, and I'll be graduating this week from Liberty. This school has such a great community. Everyday I'm surrounded with teachers, classmates, and friends that make going to school and learning an amazing experience. The rules are a lot stricter here, but they are still reasonable and manageable, and it's all worth it to be part of such a great environment. Parent: We are in our 10th year at Sage and have nothing but wonderful things to say about it. We started in kindergarten, and their IB program provides so much hands-on inquiry-based learning to make school fun for young learners. The teachers are all amazing. There is no school on Fridays, giving students a chance to recoup or catch up on schoolwork, and the teachers and staff have a full day each week to collaborate, prep, and learn. Their middle school and high school programs are rigorous but fair, and do a wonderful job preparing our kids for college, career, and just life in general! Senior: I enjoyed participating with Thomas Jefferson Charter School from Kindergarten through my senior year. I particularly enjoyed the staff's adaptability for each student by providing more difficult and particularly useful skills to use not only for school but for life. This school pushed me to accomplish things I never thought would be possible. I have learned valuable skills and haven't ever felt lost during my transition from High School to college. I personally wouldn't change any of the staff or practices done at this school, and all staff here are very easy to talk to and get in touch with. Alum: It is a bit smaller than public schools. Also, people say there are couple other schools in the Boise Metropolitan area that are STEM, etc., that are better. Yet our school continues to outperform every school in the Boise Valley area with a population approaching a million. According to Newsweek, #1 in the Boise Area, #2 in the state of Idaho, #46 nationwide amongst charter schools and 173rd in the entire United States. The school is an International Business School (IBS). They start preparing them in elementary school to be ready when they get the 6th grade they are actually learning 7th grade material. This allows them to work on their senior projects, for instance building web pages for a business and taking college level classes. The teachers and staff have a great relationship with the students. Senior: Of all the three charter schools I have attended, Xavier Charter School has demonstrated the most advocacy and support towards their students in being successful as exceeding students through their academics and moral characters. XCS is heavily centered around a Classical Education however, if a student wishes to primarily pursue a more Modern or Technical education, I may advise to apply elsewhere. The liberal arts and professions including Government, English, Literature, Dance, and Music, are the leading subjects offered with furthering opportunities for each. College preparation and direction I am very impressed with for those who are looking to find a moderate education, or stretch. Senior: I like the staff, and what the school values. The staff are always kinds, caring to students, and helpful. The teachers are amazing at what they do. The school values the sciences and the arts, has numerous sports and Cross fit programs, and helps connect students with Duel Credit Opportunities. One of the teachers was Idaho Teacher of the Year in 2018. Tuition is free, its a K-12, and I've been going there since 4th grade. Junior: I've been going to this school for 7 1/2 years, and it's been amazing. The teachers and staff are friendly and helpful, and the classes are informative. Going here has really helped me in my education experience throughout my elementary, middle school, and high school years. Now, because of this school, I have learned so much and am on track to graduate high school with my associates degree. Sophomore: I've had rough experiences with public schools in the past, 3 different schools to be exact. The teachers didn't put much effort into making sure I understood the lessons and the overall environment was pretty toxic. Compass, however, is quite different. A lot of kids don't like the culture at Compass, but I, on the other hand, much prefer it. There is a smaller teacher-to-student ratio, so the teachers can really focus on helping each student and form valuable relationships. Parent: Pros: Fantastic for letting children work at a pace that is right for them. This is a college prep school and the work required reflects that. The curriculum takes work both on the student's part and the learning coach's part. The teachers are helpful and care about the students doing well. Communication is wonderful. This school is a great choice if you want an online school with strong curriculum or if you want to homeschool your child but need some direction and want them to earn an accredited high school diploma. I do not regret choosing this school for my children and am excited to see where it takes them next! Cons: Most of the student body is in only one part of the state, leaving some students feeling disconnected from available activities due to travel times. The school appears to be working to remedy this, however, by arranging online fieldtrips that students from all parts of the state can attend. Parent: I have had children enrolled in the Taylor's Crossing elementary for the past 9 years. The level of academic instruction is phenomenal. Teachers teach to the high. Taylor's Crossing offers the perfect blend of not leaving any student behind while keeping students progressing so no one feels bored with their learning. It is a safe environment with extremely caring teachers and staff. Teachers are accessible and dedicated to helping children succeed. I have been even more impressed with their level of care during the pandemic. They do everything they can to keep our kids safe and progressing academically. I also appreciate that the school is not ok staying stagnant. They are constantly looking for ways to improve. In the past few years they have added a sports program, and are doing an excellent job for the size of school we are. Sophomore: The school is great! I'm kind of like an exchange student to here. I'm from China and I came here last year. I live with my host family, they are both teachers in NVA. My English was really bad the first year cause that was not mine first language. But the teachers really did help me out. They always ask me if I have any questions. Most of the kids here are really nice to me and we hang out a lot. I think we should have more activities and clubs or sports. That's what the kids want to do more. We want more opportunity.
