Senior: The learning environment was very rigorous but it helped prepare me for college. They teach you advanced learning techniques and have an open and welcoming environment with equality for everyone through the use of school uniforms. It is a safer environment than any of the public schools I went to before going here. I've been going here for 10 years and have made a lot of friends. They are also very good and supportive of students with learning disabilities like ADHD and Dyslexia and Disgraphia, as well as students with depression and anxiety. Junior: I love that they are advertising all their student services, including internships to give students opportunities to earn experience and other perks. I would like to see change or more inclusivity to scholarships opportunities more than what they offer now from their transfer scholarship and scholarships4kats. In my experience, scholarships4kats has scholarships geared towards specific majors like criminal justice, sports, and towards alumni, parents pursuing education, and people who know staff at Sam. I would also like to see change as to how long they take to investigate any crimes reported to them and to release hidden policies and fees(term and conditions) about Bearkat bundles.... Parent: This school is a great fit for my kids but it’s not for everyone. In our experience the academic aspect is very strong. I like that the teachers don’t just teach to the staar like surrounding districts. However, it appears most teachers are still covering the staar material as 2 of my kids received perfect scores on the math and reading staar several times. The sports and extracurricular activities are limited compared to surrounding districts but most people who choose this school are aware of this and don’t expect the same. We actually prefer the low-key aspect of the sports since it allows kids the opportunity to be on their school team in sports they might not have a lot of prior experience in. Most the teachers and administrators have been very responsive when I have a concern. It seems some people who have issues don’t really research what the IB curriculum is actually like or what sports and extracurricular programs are offered before choosing to send kids here. Parent: BASIS syllabus are extraordinary, especially Mathematics, and science. teacher's dedication is beyond word! That administration is friendly and they are ready for our questions anytime. I had been lived two different country and also this my first experience at BASIS. My son was attending his 5th grade through the distance learning due to the pandemic, 2020-2021 academic year classes are very effective for kids and teachers are engaging them efficiently through the online. Syllabus, teaching method and study materials are fabulous. Initially, my kid scared to learn more than one language but when he entered BASIS he is learning two more languages confidently other then English. Senior: Imagine International Academy of North Texas has been a pivotal part of my academic journey as a senior student. This school excels in cultivating a global perspective, promoting tolerance, and embracing diversity. The faculty's dedication and passion for their subjects have consistently pushed me to achieve my best, and the small class sizes allow for personalized guidance. The school, however, is not without fault. The number of extracurricular activities, clubs, and sports is lacking, especially compared to other schools. Furthermore, despite the school's best efforts, the overall school spirit and community are not at the level they should be. Parent: My son has only been there for 1 semester and is thriving. He was homeschooled and some alternative schools he tried were not a fit. Chaparral has been supportive of the transition. I was quite skeptical re: the ability of a public school to accommodate an accelerated learner like he is, but since our first visit the school counselor was understanding of the situation and eventually worked out an adequate course placement. The teachers care for the kids, and some of them are outright hilarious, while classes and topics are highly engaging. Homework is rigorous, but not dull and / or to the test, as some reviews said… actually always quite interesting. The student body is quite diverse and I’m shocked some talked about racism. Is everything perfect? No school is! But when issues arise they are resolved promptly, and I appreciate this more than the apparent perfection other schools claim. Senior: Being at FCA as a Venezuelan student has been such a great experience! I thought that everything would be very complicated as there is a significant language barrier between English and Spanish. Middle school student: I’m Peyton a past student at trivium. I absolutely loved trivium it has been my favorite school. I love all of my teachers especially my band teacher, he was funny. I loved how much freedom we had, like 0 hour that was really fun and that was a good idea.I liked how small it was but it still felt big. There wasn’t that much drama like you would have in a normal school. And the sports….. the sports in my opinion were awesome. In volleyball we were first seat in our district without losing a single game, and then we made it All the way to the semifinals. Track was amazingly too I loved my coaches and how hard they pushed us. At trivium it was really easy to make all A’s. The only reason we left it because trivium isn’t necessarily behind in academic’s it was that it didn’t really push you like a college prep school would. But I agree no homework Is amazing.
