Junior: The Summit Country Day School is a private catholic school in Cincinnati, Ohio. It functions with five primary pillars: spiritual, academic, athletic, artistic, and and social. It also has a prevalent character program in which each grade is assigned multiple character traits which they are encouraged to embody by faculty and activities. I started coming here in 7th grade due to the wonderful experience I had on my shadow day. The Summit has excellent resources for both general education and preparing you for life beyond the classroom. The teachers are dedicated to providing the best education possible, and we have facilities such as a makers space and a sports complex. All of the teachers are both highly qualified and passionate about their jobs. We also have things like an anatomy table and new computers for student use. Senior: I think that this school really is something special. The moment I stepped through the doors of the St. Xavier High School campus, I felt at home and I felt a part of something bigger than anything I had ever experienced before. I believe that the best part, academically, of St. X is the course rigor and management. I truly believe that after attending St. X for three years, I can definitely that my time management skills have gone through the roof. Parent: Moeller High School has been a perfect fit for our family. We are grateful that our sons are experiencing such a well-balanced high school experience. They are challenged by high level academic classes, participate in sports they are passionate about and have time to build relationships with other students. The House System has really helped them flourish as a part of a community, bringing students of different grade levels together to mentor each other and create bonds with individuals they may not have otherwise gotten to experience. Teachers are thoughtful, approachable and understand what it takes to teach young men. It's not only academics they teach but also life lessons to help these men beyond high school. Moeller has something for everyone - clubs, sports, service, academics, arts, leadership. Moeller is the perfect size - not too big and not too small for this family. Parent: My husband and I couldn't be more pleased with Saint Ursula Academy. We have 4 daughters. Our first just graduated from SUA and is going on to an elite university. Not only is she more than prepared (academically, emotionally and socially) she is a confident citizen of the world and already making the world a better place! Two of our other daughters are current students with the 4th chomping at the bit to enter in two years. My daughters' local community and global awareness has grown exponentially since attending SUA. Senior: I loved Ursuline Academy because of the loving and welcoming community. The environment with all girls creates a strong sisterhood were everyone is comfortable being themselves. Its mentality is putting peoples best work forward and always trying to improve the next time. The teachers are friendly and kind and want to make sure all their students understand their work. Our complex schedule definitely gets us ready for college with making sure that we have good time management skills. Of course there are areas that the school could improve on such as reaching out to be more diverse instead of an all white school. The food could be better with all the money that gets put into the school, and some of the equipment for sports teams and theater could be replaced. Overall, it is a great school with a intense focus on academics and leadership in the community where everyone can find there place at this school. Alum: One thing about Villa is that it is a no-cut program so you can play whatever sport you want! I think that it says volume about who Villa is as a school, they include everyone and follow the Benedictine values. One of my favorite part of villa was lunch of the month where we get take out from some restaurant and we eat with any grade we want and inside or outside. One of the worst parts it’s probably all of the challenging criteria in each class, you can make it fun though! Yes it may be super tough and you won’t want to do it but one thing about Villa is that they set you up for success… it takes time to notice it, so you might not realize it at first but it is a great place for education. One thing I might say to change is the amount of hands on activities there are, it isn’t easy for everyone to learn by listening to lectures or watching videos… though Villa has some classes that do some hands on work, I would change it to every class does something hands on at-least once a week.... Alum: I had an overall amazing experience at Notre Dame Academy. I was a record breaking athlete, leader of student sections, in many diverse clubs, and made several friendships that will last a lifetime. I thought the saying "sisterhood" was overused and stupid throughout my time as a student, but as a freshly graduated alum I've come to understand that NDA's atmosphere was nothing less than a sisterhood. Alum: I loved and valued my time at Mt. Notre Dame High School. It was an excellent school where I prepared myself for college and learned to be an empowered female. Never did I think there was a challenge I could not accomplish because of the skill sets I learned through my teachers and coaches at MND. Now, I run a non-profit and can confidently say that MND taught me the importance of giving back and great leadership skills. Senior: My experience at Bishop Fenwick has been a roller coaster of emotions. The administration is truly trying to better the school as a whole. However, sometimes in attempting to be better, they make a matter worse for a certain population. A certain change brought about recently was the implementation of an academic flex period on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. These periods were intended to give the student body a study hall to get work done. At face value this is a great thing. Yet, for students apart of AP classes, this period is used as another meet time for a particular subject. This leads to the students who are desperate for that study hall not getting one at all. Follow the rabbit hole of homework overload and one would find many long nights. Senior: I love Seton High school – from the teachers to the students to the challenging curriculum. Seton integrates compassion into their teaching standards, emphasizes the importance of values, and builds leaders through each of their classes and lessons. The administration is open minded and thinks outside the box to make Seton a successful educational experience for the students. Seton is committed to the whole child.
