Junior: The Summit Country Day School is a private catholic school in Cincinnati, Ohio. It functions with five primary pillars: spiritual, academic, athletic, artistic, and and social. It also has a prevalent character program in which each grade is assigned multiple character traits which they are encouraged to embody by faculty and activities. I started coming here in 7th grade due to the wonderful experience I had on my shadow day. The Summit has excellent resources for both general education and preparing you for life beyond the classroom. The teachers are dedicated to providing the best education possible, and we have facilities such as a makers space and a sports complex. All of the teachers are both highly qualified and passionate about their jobs. We also have things like an anatomy table and new computers for student use. Senior: I think that this school really is something special. The moment I stepped through the doors of the St. Xavier High School campus, I felt at home and I felt a part of something bigger than anything I had ever experienced before. Parent: Moeller High School has been a perfect fit for our family. We are grateful that our sons are experiencing such a well-balanced high school experience. They are challenged by high level academic classes, participate in sports they are passionate about and have time to build relationships with other students. The House System has really helped them flourish as a part of a community, bringing students of different grade levels together to mentor each other and create bonds with individuals they may not have otherwise gotten to experience. Teachers are thoughtful, approachable and understand what it takes to teach young men. It's not only academics they teach but also life lessons to help these men beyond high school. Senior: Bishop Hartley is a great place to get higher education. I am not Catholic but the teachers make it an open discussion for non Catholics to voice their opinions or say what they do in their religion. You meet some very solid friends there as well. I have made great relationships with teachers and the lunch ladies. You wouldn’t think much of people who serve you food but to me they do more they do much more. They always want to know how you are and how school is going for you. I’ve had the best life advice and overall conversations from them. There was one lunch in particular that I’ll never forget. My lunch account was low and I didn’t know, but one lunch lady gave me some grace. I enjoy the women who work in the cafeteria. They are filled with so much joy and are always ready for a conversation. It’s a nice break from teachers and just being able to have a conversation about anything, You while learn in high school that a “Thank you” or a “yes ma’am and yes sir” goes along way.... Parent: My husband and I couldn't be more pleased with Saint Ursula Academy. We have 4 daughters. Our first just graduated from SUA and is going on to an elite university. Not only is she more than prepared (academically, emotionally and socially) she is a confident citizen of the world and already making the world a better place! Two of our other daughters are current students with the 4th chomping at the bit to enter in two years. My daughters' local community and global awareness has grown exponentially since attending SUA. Senior: I loved Ursuline Academy because of the loving and welcoming community. The environment with all girls creates a strong sisterhood were everyone is comfortable being themselves. Its mentality is putting peoples best work forward and always trying to improve the next time. The teachers are friendly and kind and want to make sure all their students understand their work. Our complex schedule definitely gets us ready for college with making sure that we have good time management skills. Of course there are areas that the school could improve on such as reaching out to be more diverse instead of an all white school. The food could be better with all the money that gets put into the school, and some of the equipment for sports teams and theater could be replaced. Overall, it is a great school with a intense focus on academics and leadership in the community where everyone can find there place at this school. Parent: I am a parent of St. Francis Desales high school student and a teacher at another public school. I had my doubts about sending my child to DeSales mainly because of the tuition. However, it is definitely worth it! My child flourished at desales. She is a very strong academically and I am happy with to see all rigorous courses they offer. At the same, her several friends who struggled before is flourishing at desales with all courses designed for each of their appropriate level. Majority of students are on a honor roll for all school year not because they are easy, but because they are supported. Senior: Notre Dame Academy is a great college preporatory school that needs to focus more on their music program and the diversity of their students. I have been here since 7th grade, and now being in 12th grade I have seen a lot of growth in myself and my peers. But not my school. NDA needs to strive to create a more accepting and loving environment for students of all backgrounds. Resources for stress or mental health issues should be encouraged instead of shunned and ignored. Their music program is subpar, but has grown since we have gotten a new instructor. Senior: As a transfer student it was nice to feel like Hoban was a place that I could grow academically as well as socially. Though, being a new student is tough as you cannot relate to everyone as they have known each other for a longer period of time and have formed lasting friendships. Senior: I have been very pleased with my experience at St. Charles. When I was an incoming Freshman I didn't know what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised with the strong academics and culture. I think it has prepared me for college more so than any other school in the state of Ohio would have been able to and has allowed me to create strong friendships along the way. Our sports programs are some of the most competitive in the Columbus area. They give the students room to grow as an athlete and as an individual. St. Charles Prep. truly shines in its teaching of the maths and sciences. It has some of the best teachers in those subjects, and they can be helpful if you thinking of going into a field with a heavy emphasis on those subjects. St. Charles Prep. has taught me how to manage my time, strengthen my academics, and help me create lifelong relationships. This school is definitely for academics and college preparation. Carroll has many college AP classes and also has a college - share where you can take college classes at local colleges while in high school. It is not too competitive in athletics, except for Track, Cross Country, and Soccer. I had exceptional teachers that are always willing to tutor and stay after school to help with anything.
