North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics
- Public School
- DURHAM, NC
- Rating 4.3 out of 5 90 reviews
Junior: Out of the many schools that I have attended, North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics is by far the best one. The school allows its students to personalize their class schedules during their last two years of high school, allowing the students to not only have a say in their classes but also to allow them to start pursuing courses regarding topics that they are interested in learning. The courses offered here are not just your generic classes, but also subject-specific classes, such as classical genetics or even electrical engineering. The school not only excels in academics but also in the diversity on campus. Students from every background and different parts of the state have come to this school to learn from not only the professors but also from each other. They support one another and build strong and unforgettable relationships throughout their time on campus.

Parent: As my daughters prepare to graduate this May, I can't say enough about Saint Mary's School. SMS has been an exceptional experience for my two girls (twins). The level of engagement, community, academics, and spirit that SMS offers is unparalleled. Educationally, my girls and their peers are challenged to love learning and to learn to think critically. SMS helps them amplify their voices, find confidence, learn to lead, and fostered their individual growth. Both of my daughters love the Saint Mary's community and have enjoyed extracurriculars including participating in sports, the arts, and several student clubs and organizations, including student government. Saint Mary's girls truly do find and develop lifelong friendships, and I am simply in awe of the amazing network of alumnae they have available to them. I was also impressed that they were provided internship experiences prior to college! And, their four-year seminar program and college counseling is phenomenal. GoSaints!
