Alum: Though I only attended Wayland for two years (my junior and senior year), my time spent there had a profound impact on me as I began by adult life. Wayland's commitment to diversity, community, knowledge, and character truly develops ethical, thoughtful, and adaptive young adults. I met lifelong friends at Wayland, one whom I consider my closest friends to this day. The educators at Wayland are top notch and are committed to facilitating the growth of their students; they build rapport and understanding with their students that often transform into friendships beyond the school years. It is truly a unique experience. 14 years post-graduation, I still meet my friends and classmates at least a few times per year, often at a Wayland Academy events (i.e Spring Gala, Homecoming weekend, Alumni weekend, etc.), or simply a gettogether with friends.... Parent: SJNA is truly an amazing place. Our oldest wasn't a great student at the public school, so we moved him midway through freshman year. He just graduated from SJNA, and is now at a university with a $40k scholarship in aeronautics after his aviation experience at St. John's sparked his love of flying. He learned to play the bagpipes, experienced the challenge of Ultimate Raider in Atlanta, and had more leadership training than we'd ever have found elsewhere. His graduation party consisted of fellow seniors, students who graduated a year or two ago, and underclassmen - a testament to the deep bonds formed by the student body which are unlike anything I've seen elsewhere. Teachers and staff came too - they are the heart of this school, and truly love these students and care for them as family. Senior: Overall, I have had a good experiance at NCA. Everyone is very nice and its a very good positive enviroment. However I must say that this school is heavly focused on academics, which is good unless your into sports like me. One thing that I love about this school is all the diversity. Its really cool to meet people from all over the world. Also I have made really close friends here because the school is so small. I think thats what makes it so special though, you get to be in a close family enviroment. One thing I will say is that I wish the school was a little more family friendly. For me, I live just in town, however it feels like I live very far away from my family. This is due to the fact that NCA is very strict with their rules. Thats one thing I wish would change. Parent: My oldest son graduated from SLS 2021 & he continuously states that he feels prepared for college. He attends a Catholic University and he continues to engage in the study habits he learned at SLS. He knows how to delegate his time & workload all because of his experience at SLS. He said he would do it all over again in a heartbeat! As a parent I thought the traditional high school education setting was going to be fitting, but my son saw all that he could benefit from SLS and insisted on going. My two younger sons also saw how much SLS was a benefit for their future & made the choice to attend. I have 1 SLS graduate & 2 son's currently attending SLS (c/o 2023 & 2025) . I love the brotherhood these young men have! The one thing in life people overlook is the aspect of faith building, & SLS will prepare these young men for all of life's challenges. Senior: Although not an elite academic high school (like an "Ivy feeder" or something like that), this school has made my experience in America a very pleasant one. Very friendly students, and overall great teachers (although the physics and engineering field isn't as good as its math program). Welcoming environment not only for sports but also music. Alum: Martin Luther High School is a great school in the Milwaukee area, where you will have a very diverse classroom, and very caring teachers. When I attended this school, I knew I could go to any staff member about any issue I was having, at home or in school, and they would try to help resolve it. The Christian atmosphere is a great help in the learning environment because everybody is very helpful and kind. Senior: What’s special about youth initiative is the community. The students are generally all very nice and inclusive but they’re still teenagers like at any other school. The community is really about the teachers. They all really genuinely care. They see you before you see yourself, and by senior year I’ve been more excited to go to school for the teachers than to see my (amazing incredible funny life changing) friends. Each teacher adds their own essential qualities to the school. The youth initiative journey is like a perfectly written story. Freshman and sophomore year the students are often unaware of how special the school is, but as they move into late junior year and senior year, people realize. Once you start taking the opportunity of being here you start to feel yourself growing into the best possible version of yourself. Yes the school is quirky, but I know I’m ready for the world. Parent: Caring teachers, lifelong friendships, challenging academics, and excellent athletics and arts programs! My wife and I couldn't be happier with the choice we made to enroll our kids at SLHS. They went to public school K-8 and we were pleasantly surprised by the warm and caring vibe from teachers, staff, and students alike at Shoreland. Our kids frequently say "thank you" to us for enrolling them here (what more could a parent want?). The school has really upped their game in the last couple of years, adding one of the best STEM programs in the state (with champion robotics teams), a great trades program, and an academically rigorous program overall. The student body is surprisingly diverse both in ethnicity and religious background. Their Wisconsin State Report Card "exceeds expectations." Senior: Luther Prep has been a great school for me, but every school has it's flaws. I have very much enjoyed the people and the environment they create. There is a Christian culture that makes it very inviting and comfortable. The teachers are very caring and turn school into a personal experience. I do think that because it is a boarding school, it can feel sort of entrapping. This is due to extra rules to make sure everyone is accounted for due to it still being highschool. Senior: I have been attending Northland Scholars Academy for 3 years now as an international student. The teachers and resident assistants here at Northland Scholars Academy are some of the best I have ever encountered. Not only are they knowledgeable about the subjects they teach, but they are also very considerate and caring toward their students. Every teacher makes an effort to ensure that everyone in the classroom understands the material, and the resident assistants are always available to help out with anything you might need. The classes here at the Academy are challenging and engaging, allowing students to explore and learn to the best of their abilities. Additionally, extra-curricular activities are available, ranging from sports to clubs to arts, so there is something for everyone. Northland Scholars Academy is truly a great place to learn.
