Parent: Exceptional in every way. We starting in preK and are now finishing another year of high school. Nearly all of her teachers have been phenomenal. Girls are engaging and motivated supporting each other in good times and hard. Particularly impressed with how these girls successfully manage full schedules in high school including challenging academics, varsity sports missing entire school days for travel, and/or other extracurricular activities and events. We are certain our daughter will be more than prepared for the most challenging colleges and life. Senior: I came from a smaller Catholic school in Dallas there was fear going in. Many come from bigger and more known schools nearby which I figured would be a smoother transition to the one I would be going into. On my first day I was welcomed by everyone and made friends easily. We were all going through the same fear. Ursuline is a sisterhood, and it was vibrantly shown between underclassmen and upper. There was no separation between us. My four years as a student have been amazing due to the faculty, students and those visiting. It is always an adventure with every event including service. Serviam has been our moto and we all represent it with everything we do. We give back to the world and have become leaders in our community. As seniors we are given the privilege of serving every Monday morning to the destination of our choice. It's a beautiful experience which you make connections with. Junior: My experience at Incarnate Word Academy has been amazing. We are a small, all-girl, and Catholic High School in downtown Houston. The teachers here have the highest degrees in their field and have a passion for teaching. They work with you and will take the time to help you with what you need help with. We have many honor and AP classes, which I have taken a few, and the classes are absolutely amazing. There are no boys here at our school but that is what brings the students closer together. We are a small school, with 400 students in total, the students are really close; whether, it is in sports, clubs, or in classrooms. I have been in Cross Country and Track here since freshman year. Even though our team is small compared to other schools, we always place top 10 at state. We have the best coaches, they played in college and Coach the sport here! Senior: From the day I arrived I've loved Incarnate Word! Everything from the modular schedule to the teachers to the best friends I've made! I really enjoyed the modular schedule at Incarnate Word. It allowed me to get my homework done during the day and taught me important time management skills. That way when I went home I hardly had to do any homework. I just had to study. I'm glad I learned time management skills by going through the schedule because I feel this has prepped me for college! Another thing the teachers there are great! They really want you to succeed and are always there to help you out. The class sizes are only about 15-23 people so the teachers are easy to access outside of class if you have questions or need help on a concept. Regarding the school atmosphere, all the girls here are very nice and we uplift one another. Senior: I loved how small my school is so everyone knows each other, and it feels like a family. I also like how the administration is always there to help you with any problems you have. They prioritize your needs, and their doors are always open to listen to your situation, or provide advice and solutions. It is also generally a very positive atmosphere, with constant activities and school programs to bring more excitement to the learning. Even within the classroom, many teachers have art or creative writing assignments to make the work more enjoyable to complete. They also try to keep the workload manageable by limiting the amount of tests per week. I do think the school would be improved if they had more clubs and extracurricular options, as well as a better gym program. Senior: I’ve been attending Providence since 7th grade! I am a senior now, class of 2020! Great school, but I think Providence deserves a lot more enrollment. There is so much to be offered! My favorite part about Providence is the Fine Arts Department! Providence is most popularly known for the amazing Fine Arts department! I’m heavily active in Choir and the Theatre Department and Visual Arts Department is very popular, too. Dance is also very good!
