Alum: I went to Trinity Classical Academy from kindergarten through 12th grade and I loved the experience! I was able to watch and grow with the school and my friends as it progressed over time. Teachers and faculty are very active in making sure that the differing programs advance to a classical standard which is best for the student body and families. I was involved in groups such as theater, orchestra, cross country, soccer, softball, and more over my years there. I appreciated how the administration was willing to listen to concerns and go about change for the better. I now go to Patrick Henry College, a classical private Christian college in Virginia. I am going to this college because, through the administration, faculty, staff, and culture of Trinity, I have recognized that to best make an influence on today's culture, a Christian must learn from the past and apply a biblical worldview to the glory of God.... Parent: So far, I'm impressed with the "out of the box" education style at Village. They take a creative approach to teaching the fundamentals using art, auditory, visual, and tactile modes of presenting material to make it more interesting. The academics are challenging but they strive for a "whole child" approach so that the kids still have time & energy left for extracurriculars and family. The school is very spiritual and focuses on living out your faith. I believe they are doing a good job at teaching the Bible and Christ's love while not driving kids away from faith as some overly dogmatic religious institutions do. There are many wonderful opportunities for the kids to explore from excellent sports to a stellar fine arts department. The theatre department is regarded as one of the best and produces Broadway caliber shows year after year. Alum: I believe there are positive and negative aspects to this school that should be considered for future enrollment. I have a good experience because of the relationships I built with those around me. I was able to not only make life-long friendships but I was also able to connect with numerous teachers/staff that made it easier to understand my education. The curriculums and extra curricular activities offered were beneficial and valuable. However, there are some downfalls to this school including their inability to continuously have the same teachers/staff throughout your 4-year experience. Sophomore: I came in high school so I didn't get a chance to go to the middle school or elementary school. However, I wish that I did because the teachers and the learning environment are amazing! The teachers like building relationships with their students and it doesn't feel like they are just there to teach you, which makes learning a lot more fun. The school offers lots of sports, too, and from what I've seen, the coaches are amazing! The school also has tons of fun electives that you can do, such as orchestra, band, ceramics, choir, art, etc. One of my favorite parts of Valley Christian High School is all the fun events that they put on: the Harvest Festival, the Sadie's Hawkins Dance, Homecoming, Winter Formal, Junior-Senior Banquet, Prom, and Broadway Showcase (which is a showcase that the entire school puts on, including the elementary and middle school). The classes are small allowing the teachers to know what each child needs. High School offers numerous AP classes as well as individualized academic planning for college. My kids have participated in various electives including performing arts (The Little Mermaid Jr., Newsies - full Broadway version, etc.), culinary arts, financial planning, and more. Sophomore: Whittier Christian High School is a tremendous school both academically and spiritually. The teachers and faculty do a superb job in all aspects of the school whether that be teaching, facilitating, or helping. WHCS offers classes for different levels and also has a variety of clubs and groups to join. I personally have grown at Whittier Christian through their academic classes and have learned so much more. Senior: I loved my experience at SCCS! I was able to grow close with many students of various grades, and form great friendships through different extracurricular activities. The school event, such as our Christmas banquet, are a great way to enjoy time with friends and create memories you will never forget. Being a relatively small school, students are able to have good relationships with teachers and faculty members who actually care and would like to see you succeed.
