Scotts Valley High School is generally a good school. Considerate teachers, very little bullying, and community college course options are Scotts Valley High School's strengths. However, I believe it is quite underfunded and its priorities of where to use money are no resourceful. The lunch food is hardly satisfactory and is often fried, greasy, stale, and extremely unhealthy. Vegetables are rarely offered. The meager sports funding goes to football and art/music is funded on donations. I would prefer a reevaluation of funding to make the school as productive as possible. Too much money is spent on expensive Chromebooks. While I believe in the convenience of significant learning, not all students need Chromebooks. To save money, we should only purchase Chromebooks for students who do not possess or can't afford laptops of their own. The wonderful teachers are what save Scotts Valley High School and make the experience tolerable. The pros outweigh the (significant) cons of the school.

I feel that one of the biggest issues I see students talking about is the administration. I think that a lot of students feel that the admin doesn't really listen to them and if they do they do not handle hard situations very well. I think the academics are great, both teachers and students alike are very high achieving and many teachers strive to accompany any type of student. But both the admin and the counselors have been said many times to not handle student's complaints very well at all and do not listen to many student's issues. They do strive to create an open and caring environment which is nice, but it is not always followed through.
I was quite happy attending Scotts Valley High overall, my teachers were very good at what they do and the classes prepared me well for my future acedemics. I got into a good university and would recommend the school to anyone. I would note there was some difficulty with communication between students and the administration, the administration was stretched pretty thin and it seemed that they were just meeting demand when it came to communication.
