SAA is the best decision we made for our gifted child. The curriculum and academics are challenging, engaging, and progressive. SAA attends to growing the "whole child" and provides academic opportunities for all interests. My child was able to explore art interests, which he never thought he had, while advancing in science. The science program is so fantastic, with a rigorous curriculum, which is why we chose SAA, but our child also received the benefit of latin and spanish, advanced in math, and found his courage and confidence through drama. We can't rave enough about SAA teachers! Each teacher is so engaging and enthusiastic about their subject area. Every teacher truly cares about every individual student. SAA is a remarkable school, a school that others should emulate.

We had an opportunity to experience Science and Arts Academy (SAA) through our youngest kid who was doing Pre-K there. Our initial plan was to get to move her to a Chicago Public Selective enrollment school (CPS) after finishing her preschool there. But when we took a tour and did a shadow day at SAA, we decided to reconsider that decision.

The shadow day went off really well - It gave us an opportunity to see how the school functioned and how different it was from a public school. The kids seemed happy, well mannered, and we also learned that kids were grouped based on the level they were at. Everything was structured and planned out from admission process to the curriculum. After we spent a few months as an SAA parent, we decided to move our older kid who was a student at a CPS gifted school to SAA - the best decision ever!
We have three kids at SAA and love it. The school follows through on their promise to offer an individualized and child-centered approach. The teachers are wonderful across the board in terms of fostering creativity, bolstering interest in new things, encouraging curiosity. While the tuition is substantial, the school is being proactive about ensuring students of varied economic backgrounds can attend SAA. The school fosters personal as well as academic development, and the student body is highly accepting of differences. While homework is certainly part and parcel of the higher grades, it certainly isn't burdensome. Overall, we couldn't be happier with SAA.
