School of Science & Engineering Reviews
Rating 4.22 out of 5 220 reviews
The school of science and engineering is a really prestigious school that offers great classes to students. It can sometimes be hard to balance all the work were given because of the challenging classes we take. However the teachers makes the experience a little less dreadful. They strive to make students the best that they can. But what I especially like about my teachers is that they are very strict. The are strict to where they want us to learn and to have a future; that is what I adore about them. Something I would like to see a change is the school spirit. My school doesn’t have the spirit I first thought it did. Not much people are united and interested in school activities. This could be due to the fact that freshman year for us was virtual, so we didn't make any connections. But now going into senior year, I wish my school was closer.
The academic program truly helps students be prepared for college. As part of the School of Science and Engineering's accelerated math track, I took Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, and AP Calculus AB as part of a double-block schedule during my freshman year. I also took SuperLab, a unique science track offered during Junior Year consisting of AP Physics C: Mechanics, AP Chemistry, and a hands-on Lab & Experimental Design course. The teachers are approachable and very dedicated to their students' education. Almost all of the teachers offer tutoring hours before and/or after school and sponsor extracurricular activities. In addition, the school culture is unique compared to most other schools. Students genuinely care about their learning and academic opportunities, so this produces a cooperative and academics-driven culture. While social events have been lacking in previous years, the PTSA has started sponsoring monthly school-wide social events, bringing the community closer together.
I am currently a senior at the School of Science and Engineering, while my experience was alright compared to how it is now, it was still a great place to accelerate my learning, and the 3 available tracks ensure that everyone has their own pace of learning, the principal and staff are really nice in my opinion and the teachers are pretty cool people and the people in my year we're great and I have met and become friends with lots of people, and overall this school is a great place to prepare yourself for college and the future. Only reason this isn't 5 stars is because the extracurriculars we're not as diverse as they are currently, I guess you could say I was a little jealous but I still very much recommend this school.
