The School of Science and Engineering at Townview Magnet Center is a great high school. I believe I am learning a lot considering I am taking many accelerated courses compared to my home school. I took 4 AP classes last year and am taking 5 AP classes this year, but I can still maintain my GPA and not get as stressed as I should be. I am still able to play sports and I was able to receive gym credit for it. I think the only thing I would change about this school is how the district contacts parents and students. The way they do it now isn't very efficient.

This is a school where pretty much everyone can fit in; the SEM community is tremendously accepting of an individual's unique qualities and quirks. The school work is rigorous but doable. Teachers are available but do not do any 'hand-holding' and do not accept excuses - they have high, but mostly reasonable, expectations of the students. Being self-motivated is critically important for success at SEM. I was not impressed with the school counselors. I believe that I am uniquely prepared for college and would chose to go to SEM if I had to do it all over again.
The School of Science and Engineering offers a myriad of opportunities in its advanced academic programs (e.g. Super fast track math curriculum, Superlab course), extracurriculars (e.g. UIL, robotics clubs), and AP courses. However, this school lacks in school spirit activities and unity. Students here tend to be overly competitive and they tend to not bond.
