Although I have mixed feelings about the school's overall curriculum, I have been grateful for many of the teachers who have taught here. This school heavily pushes STEM classes, mostly math, and leaves little room for electives until probably around junior or senior year. However, the teachers here (sometimes) recognize what we have to deal with and will encourage us to work our way through it. If stress is something you're trying to avoid, this is not the place for you! My hope is that the toughest times at SEM will be proof enough that we can handle the worst of college. I am also very grateful for all the help we got during the college admissions process - it's probably among the best in DISD. If I could change anything, it would be improving the quantity and quality of non-STEM classes students are allowed to take.

The staff are expert and caring! Students, parents and the community are a high priority. Students leave with a first rate education! Parent and community involvement is highly encouraged.
Newsweek ranked SEM #1 for STEM out of all public AND private high schools in the nation this year. Phenomenal education. The kids are brilliant. 100% of seniors go to college. Many go to Ivy League schools, a couple choose the Naval/Air Force Academies. 10% of this year’s senior class was accepted at Rice. SAT/ACT scores are through the roof. If you have a STEM child who thrives on independent, rigorous schoolwork and can nail up to 6 AP exams in one year, it may be a good fit. The school is for families within the Dallas ISD boundaries and they have a revamped, thorough vetting process to eliminate applicants who attempt to gain admission from outside the district using falsified documentation. Seats are coveted and they don’t mess around.
