All in all, TAG is what you make of it. It has a LOT of opportunities through lots of challenging classes like AP Physics C, and teachers that teach their subjects very well like Mr. Cullins for Calculus AB and BC. It's up to you whether you apply for the classes and actually take the time to study for classes that you struggle in. The people you'll meet here are awesome too. You'll find your friend group if you put yourself out there! It's good to work hard, but also find balance and plan out your years so that in the most important year, senior year when you're trying to balance classes and applying for colleges, that you don't tired from senioritis and just burnt out.
Teachers are always easily accessible and willing to listen. I have not had a bad experience with most teachers, and they are always willing to listen. The teachers and student body are very accepting and reasonable. There are also a plethora of clubs to join. Can't find your club? Create it! Mr. Z, the principal, is funny, responsible, and caring. He goes above and beyond in every way possible. Even though the environment is academically challenging, social life and school life is very real and manageable. Overall, TAG is a great place to be.
I highly recommend applying to TAG if you are in DISD. This school prepares you for college. Most of the teachers are user-friendly and willing to accommodate you as long as you communicate; work can pile up at times, and it can get challenging to juggle it all, but you can definitely power through. I've had a positive experience so far, and I am glad I came here!
