This school is absolutely amazing. The teachers are caring and dedicated, they are always involved and engaging. We have a tight-knit family feel of the school and as club president and co-president of clubs, I can say that the clubs are highly engaging and there exists many diverse options.
I started going during my junior year of high school and now it has probably been one of the best decisions I have made. At first I was nervous as I didn't really know anyone there but the school environment made it really easy for me to connect with others and I have made great friends since. The school doesn't offer sports but the academics are incredible. All of my high school teachers are incredibly knowledgeable and they are great at getting the classes engaged and have overall been extremely helpful when I get confused in class or need extra reinforcement. Being able to do dual enrollment also allowed me to enjoy my school schedule more than in my previous high school as I was able to chose classes that fit my interests. Though many say the school lacks the traditional high school experience, I don't think that's the case. The only thing we don't have are pep rallies or sports but other than that we have several events throughout the year that make up for it.
This is an amazing school! Ms. Tercilla, Mr. Orichio, Dr. Lemus, Ms. Ochoa, Ms. Bray, Ms. Diaz, Mr. Gallardo, and Mr. Morua are all amazing. The teachers truly care about their students' success and overall well-being. It is also a great opportunity to take college-level classes.
What I like about this school is how passionate both the students and teachers are. The teachers thoroughly explain the material and have very engaging activities with the class. Also, there are many clubs so students can explore their interests while having fun.
The teachers and faculty were amazing in this school. They truly care about their students and want to see them succeed. It is a competitive program but is all worth it in the end. The faculty have shown to be selfless and caring and I could never have asked for a better school. I transferred from my main school for the benefits because it truly does help in the end.
Taking college-level courses while maintaining a high school experience is definitely the best of SAS.
It's a great school! Amazing teachers! Everyone is super devoted to helping every student succeed. The school is very diversified. It is a hard school, so it is on the student to put forth their maximum effort in order for them to succeed.
I have had a great experience at School for Advanced Studies. The school is definitely challenging, bu the teachers want the students to succeed and prepare you well for college.
The school itself provides a wonderful opportunity to attain college credit prior to starting it, though it can easily feel as if you're inundated in work at times. I wish the administration paid better attention to the wishes of the student body and didn't disregard us as often as they do.
School for Advanced Studies (SAS) allows students to truly flourish within their fields of interest and works to extensively prepare students for the realities of college. Personally, if a student is hoping to pursue higher education and wants to further their knowledge, I would strongly recommend SAS.
Although I gave this school a low rating, it's not terrible if you're prepared for it. It also depends on which campus you go to. I went to the West campus in Doral and I genuinely feel as if I was wronged of the experience they promised me. I enjoyed the false sense of freedom they gave me: the ability to choose my college classes, break times, and not much supervision.
SAS West has given me the great opportunity of advancing my career by earning my A.A. degree at the same time as my high school degree. I would definitely recommend this high school to any ongoing juniors living in South Florida.
The most amazing High School in the state of Florida! This advanced school gives students opportunities unavailable to many other high schools. With a challenging and accelerated curriculum, students are prepared for the difficulty of college classes. In addition to this, upon completing their last two years of high school at SAS, the students graduate with their high school diploma and an associate degree from Miami Dade College. Since the size of the school is not very large, it promotes a very friendly and familial atmosphere. The perfect high school.
School for Advanced studies has enabled me to push my barriers past the average. SAS has helped me to further challenge myself to see if I could achieve an associate degree and high school as the same time.
Even though this is a very challenging program it is definitely worth all the hard work. The teachers are great and they actually know what they are talking about unlike other public schools. One thing I would want to change is the amount of homework that is assigned.
SAS offers a multitude of opportunities to thrive academically. Teachers and counselors are consistent with deadlines and making sure that students are well informed. Socially, SAS is much less stressful than the average high school, due to its relatively low class sizes. SAS is perfect for students who want to achieve greatness academically.
At first, I was extremely nervous to be part of this dual enrollment program, but after spending little time I got to know the wonderful people and support that the school provides. Not only are the high school teachers a great support. the great professors will be your first exposure to the college experience. By creating these relationships, the transition from high school to college will be smoother and not so shocking than coming from an ordinary school. Although the school is very challenging and rigorous, it has shown positive result over the years. No wonder that is has become the number one school in the state.
