I felt that the classes were to easy and did not prepare me for college. The guidance counselors were average and most of the teachers were below average. The music program was pretty decent but not as wonderful as it should be, considering it is a performing arts school. Overall it is an average school.
Teachers and staff are really involved with the students. Providing the best opportunities and safety concerns for our kids. A wide variety of academics, sports and extra curriculars are available.
The teachers are excellent and have been taking steps in order to further any students academic career- they take personal investment into the lives and education of students.
SHS has a lot of different opportunities for students, with a variety of extracurriculars and classes. It is also not a large school, which is both a blessing and a curse. It makes it easier to make friends, since there are more people that you see often. However, it also means that there are slightly less class options than a larger school (only two language offerings, a more limited selection of AP classes, etc.) Also, a lot of the students get into cliques, and if you don't have your clique it may be more difficult to make lasting friends, although most everyone is welcoming and will not shut you out. The school is also in an extremely safe area, albeit sometimes overly conservative.
Not a very big high school. In a small beach side community. Friendly students and administration. Could use more of a selection of courses. One of the best fine arts programs around.
Now that I look back most of my issues in high school were my own doing. This is a good school and if you are a go getter you can have a good experience. I was a soccer player and basketball player but didn't participate beyond that. The clubs are seriously lacking, I always wished I could've started my own. If you attend this school make it happen.
I started school at Satellite as a junior because I moved from out of state. In the beginning, I struggled with feeling accepted and welcomed as a new student, but now as I have been at Satellite for over a year I feel more comfortable. I think the teachers at Satellite are very welcoming and supportive of new students, but the administration is not. This town is a fairly small town, and everyone knows each other. So as a new member of the area, I felt alienated by some of the administration and students. However, I have met some really great students and teachers with whom I have formed bonds that will last a lifetime. Additionally, I have been able to participate in academic activities that I would not have had an opportunity for at my previous high school, and for that, I am grateful to have attended Satellite High School for my junior and senior years.
Satellite High School has been and currently is all that one could ask for in the High School experience: amazing teachers, a well-maintained campus, and outstanding music and extra-curricular programs. Satellite has allowed me, and likely many others, to excel towards a successful future!
Overall great school. Nearly all of the teachers I’ve had have made an effort to help me achieve my goals whether inside the classroom or out. Many class sizes are between 25-30 students but you get a great deal of one on one time with every teacher. All teachers seem to have a vested interest in you as a person and hope to see you personally succeed. I loved my time here and am very sad that my senior year I will not be able to return due to COVID-19.
I have been going to Satellite for three years and my experience has been quite great. This school gives its students so many opportunities and has so many programs to help its students thrive in the learning community. There is clubs and collegiate programs where students can get the feel of a college atmosphere and earn college credits. This school also has an amazing arts department that I am grateful to be a part of. Satellite is a school that wants its students to be successful and is involved in a way that makes sure they are.
Two main things: 1. not a lot of diversity and 2. most people grew up together so it's difficult to come is as a newbie
My teachers always supported me, but getting information from the school was extremely hard to get from.
The experience at satellite is amazing. The teachers are great, the fine arts program (especially for orchestra) is top notch. The over all community is very supportive. You may struggle in some classes but the teachers are the most forgiving I’ve met and well all ways help. On top of that they often will related to you and show sympathy. Some people may be a bit strange but u’ll always find a group to fit in to, and for the most part free from the judgement of everyone else. All the students and staff are very laid back and friendly, the teachers especially.
This school is in a good location in a small town. Many of the teachers are dedicated to the students and help them as much they can while also pushing them to their limits. They also have an outstanding music program
Satellite Senior High School is a wonderful campus, with the teachers are both friendly and knowledgeable. The surrounding community is also great! being right on the beach provides for some interesting experiences. I wouldn't change much about it.
Personally, I've had a great experience at Satellite. I've meet amazing teachers and friends and I will treasure these moments for the rest of my life.
I loved my 4 years at satellite High school. It was a great experience with a very good and challenging education. There are plenty of opportunities for everyone to challenge themselves if they want to while also receiving the support that a student needs to be successful. I thought it had a lot of fun events and the school did a great job at promoting school spirit and involving the students.
