I genuinely believe that this school has done wonders for me in my academic capacity as well as my leadership abilities. I was never one for writing essays, or reading books, but now (because of the amazing teachers) I want to major in English and eventually go on to get my law degree! This school has done wonders, and I highly recommend for any kid who struggles in a unstructured school environment.

I have flourished at Sarasota Military Academy. Being in an intimate and structured environment had helped me to prepare for my life ahead. The JROTC program has taught me life skills from how to be financially smart to how to perform CPR to forming thinking maps in my head to help solve an issue at hand.
The relationship that the cadets get to form with our instructors are unbreakable bonds. Cadets come back to visit campus after graduating 10 years ago, and every instructor they had remembers them and welcomes them with a handshake, hug, or smile. You cannot receive that kind of welcome at a large public high school where everybody blends into the masses.
At SMA, we are rewarded for our accomplishments and determination. We are awarded ribbons, medals, rank, and a good reputation in the community. Our competitive teams are nationally ranked, and we show our eagle pride every chance we get. We support one another at SMA, no matter how big or small the challenge is. We fly as one.
Sarasota Military Academy focuses on developing leadership abilities in an Army JROTC setting while still maintaining academic standards with qualified teachers. As a student, you find support is easy to find within your teachers but can be hard to find a support system through guidance counselors (despite their title). The teachers are passionate about their respected subjects, and often include hands-on learning to keep students engaged. The administration has been flighty over the past few years, making it hard to keep a principal/head-of-school stay in their position (mostly personal reasons). Because there is not currently a strong head, rules can become blurry between different sides of campus causing some disciplinary confusion. Overall though, it provides an amazing place for student expression through clubs and activities (varsity sports, JROTC sports, school spirit, etc) and uniforms provide just that: uniformity.
