I've learned a lot here and I've made a good majority of my closest friends here. It's in this school that I really accelerated in terms of my writing. It was in this school that I created my first written TV show, and I can assure you that I wouldn't have been nearly as good if it wasn't for the help I got from all my teachers and peers. So to make a long story short, I am very grateful that I was able to go to school that challenged me without being impossible.
Great all around school. Offers many electives and extracurricular activities for our students. Historically was an athletic school, but must recently has become an Arts & Music school. These programs have fabulous instructors and high expectations. Like all schools, has both amazing teachers and under performing teachers. The administration is open to change and invested in the students.
SLHS has some amazing teachers and the administration generally actually cares BUT the students and whole community is very judging and close-minded. Everyone has known each other since birth and shun new students. The administration and teachers can also be very ignorant about disability accommodations. Honestly I hated transferring into this school and it is not a fond memory.
I enjoyed the small school because most teachers were more involved but sometimes it was too small because there wasn't enough opportunities.
Saranac Lake Senior High School was a great place to get a high school education. With a large diversity of challenging classes, organizations & clubs, and an AMAZING music department, there's nowhere else I would rather have gone.
I loved my high school experience at Saranac Lake High School. It was a place to find myself and get involved. The support of my teachers and administrators was never ending and whenever I had an idea I was greatly encouraged to put it into action. The teachers cared about us getting a good education, not just good grades. I'm proud to call Saranac Lake High School my alma mater.
Overall, my experience was a pleasant one. Though there were sub-par teachers whose favorite activity was to hand out busy work before playing solitaire, the teachers that lived up to their job title were a breath of fresh air. They were inspirational, motivational, and were able to pass on knowledge well. The campus was clean and the numerous clubs, sports, and activities were always fun.
The teachers are very caring, kind and help as much as possible most of the time.
It is a really great school there is a lot of clubs and the teachers are very interactive. Everyone knows each other at this school and there is a lot of opportunities for a good education.
Saranac Lake High School is an overall nice school. The music department is absolutely amazing. Many of the faculty members are great instructors and know their class well. It still lacks in some areas, however people at the school are often willing to make changes for the better.
There is not many options when looking at school lunch.
The way the system is set up punishes students who do not necessarily need to be punished. If you are late to school three times, you automatically get a detention. The number of lates do not reset every quarter.
Sports are very popular as well as the amount of spirit through out the school.
After school activities in the music department are incredible! The level of intensity the music teachers are able to provide is outstanding!
Fields can get worn out and it would be great if they could add restroom facilities to the soccer and lacrosse fields
Most teachers go above and beyond caring for every student, unfortunately there are a select few that aren't the best
Large Variety of clubs and sports for everyone and anyone
