My second child is currently attending Santiago Charter Middle School and we couldn't be happier with the academics, culture and opportunities for the kids. The co-principals and all of the staff go above and beyond to make sure the kids are enjoying school and are safe. The culture at Santiago is one of positivity and encouragement. The kids who attend Santiago thrive. There is literally something for every student at Santiago, such as after school sports, cheer team, classes in graphic design, woodshop, American Sign Language, esports, and film. They have a strong honors program for high achieving students and free afterschool tutoring for those who need some help. Their band class provides students with many performance opportunities out in the world. They have leadership opportunites and many clubs. They offer classes for parents to learn English. They have a very active PTSA and encourage parent involvement. We LOVE this school!

This school has an unbelievably positive culture. The staff is always visible and positive and the teachers are very engaging with meaningful lessons. Some of the unique things about this school are that every child gets a free Chromebook to use for the year, they offer mental health supports and screening, they are very outgoing in the community with ASB, Cheer, Culinary, and performing arts, and much, much more. Kids are even mandated to take a curriculum-based emergency response program to show them how to respond to an intruder on campus. If you tour this school, you will feel the positive energy.
Santiago does an amazing job at getting kids to feel part of a group. That is so important at this stage in life. And if there isn't a club that the student likes, they are encouraged to start a new one. They also do a great job welcoming incoming students before they are even enrolled and give plenty of opportunity to visit the campus. My son was so comfortable on campus, that he wasn't even nervous on his first day of school. This school also offers electives that aren't at other schools. My son get to take a full year of culinary, wood shop and marine biology for his electives this year.
