As a high school senior, I would say I have thoroughly enjoyed my past few years at Santana. I would say my favorite part about the school is the different pathways you can choose in order to prepare you for after high school. Whether it was the culinary, media, or medical, students got a wide range of paths they could choose from. I personally chose the media pathway, and I have had a ton of fun learning about film and photography. The councilors at the school are very helpful and I, along with many other students, are very appreciative of them and the resources they provide to us. I have had an overall positive experience with the staff. Most of the teachers and campus supervisors have always been very friendly and supportive. The classes themselves are interesting and engaging, and I almost always looked forward to my day at school. Santana is a great, safe environment to learn, grow, and get involved.
Santana High School does not offer high aspirations or opportunities for college-bound students. I had a couple of very great teachers, but this was not reflective of the school's policies or structure. Academic advising does not prepare students for college or offer sufficient information. Classes are not challenging and students are not encouraged to over-achieve. Extra curricular activities are present but not competitive.
