Wonderful community on and off campus, lots of school spirit, and some wonderful teachers! Sports are a large part of SRV, but the arts programs are great as well. Admin are always trying to improve campus culture and the Leadership works continuously to put on school-wide activities.
Review San Ramon Valley High School
The teachers at San Ramon Valley High are superb! They take the time out of their busy outside lives to spend their free periods, lunch time and after school time to help those pesky students like me who constantly need to keep asking questions! I have had such a positive experience at San Ramon because of the hard work that the teachers put in. There are so many emails that are sent back and forth as well, and I know they are working hard outside of school because of the emails that we receive, specifically the crazy involved teachers who send emails very early in the morning so that their students can stay on top of things. I have many teachers who upload our assignments on Schoolloop, a website for us to check our homework, but they also have their own website ON TOP of Schoolloop! On these websites they have their calendars, powerpoints, extra links and more videos to help us on top of the information they give us in class. I know that there is a true passion for teaching because high school kids are not easiest to work with, and yet they show up everyday with an attitude that makes me want to learn. Regarding consistency in grading, I love that my English teachers have been making us put our school ID numbers on the top of our essays instead of our real names because it eliminates any bias that we might think they have towards certain students! Overall, the teachers put in so much work into helping us grow academically and challenge us to become better students.
I really enjoy the after school activities, from choir to cross country to track and field! I am sometimes a shy person, but the teams have been so welcoming and I feel comfortable immediately. There are so many clubs to pick from- one of them that my friends and I created was the Asian Fusion Club! It is a fun club where we work to spread information and help grow culturally with Asian cuisine and facts! I also love all of the humanitarian clubs, like Interact, CSF, NHS, and Pledge for Humanity. These clubs provide lots of volunteering opportunities to give back to the community and through these clubs, I have made so many friends who I did not think I would ever be close to! One example was at a holiday Interact party at our senior citizen center where all of the grades in the club came together to throw a very festive party that had everyone in the best spirits. For the clubs' commitment levels, it is best if you are committed to them fully for the best experience. Otherwise, it is a little hard to juggle all of them without having them overlap. I enjoy the math lab, which is helpful personally as I struggle with math occasionally. The math lab is open three days after school for all levels of math and the teachers are very knowledgeable and help students for about an hour and a half after school. If I had not gone to the free math lab freshman year, I would have not finished the semester with an A, that is for sure!
