My high school experience was a mixed bag. Some teachers were caring and passionate about what they taught, while others were apathetic and unhelpful. The school is somewhat big so finding a friend group is important. The food is average cafeteria food, unhealthy fast food. If you can, I suggest packing your own lunch for your kid. School has many opportunities for involvement and even offers some on-campus jobs through the Career Center.
Your kid will get little help when it comes time for college applications and scholarships. Do NOT have them join AVID. We did not take any college trips, did not recieve any help in applying for scholarships, and the work consisted of bullshit "tutorials" that did little to nothing for the students. Encourage them to seek out opportunities themselves, and form close relationships with their teachers. When it comes time for letters of recommendation and references for jobs, they will need the connections!

Attending San Gorgonio High School was an amazing experience with how diverse it is among the students who attend. The AP and honors teachers I all had were kind and helpful in allowing me to be prepared for college. They showed me as well as other students that they care about our futures and wish for nothing but the best for us, which made the school environment a nice place to be in!
My experience at San Gorgonio High School has been postively encouraging. I believe it has been a system of support and opportunities granted to all students. Although the environment that it resides in is not affluent, students still flourish academically and find ways to improve our community. My school is a motivator to produce effective leaders of our future and integrates exemplary individuals into the adult world. From clubs, academic courses, to leadership programs, even though few, students take advantage of the opportunities offered as we know they are the only chances we are given to even come close to other privileged schools. It may not be the best school in the world, but we know how to use the resources and tools given to us. It teaches me that I have to work harder than the average individual. My school is an exemplary place for students wishing to understand the results of hard work. Our counselors and teachers encourage us to further our education onto college.
